Jessica Marie: November 2012
http://jessicamariegraves.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
Saturday, November 24, 2012. Saturday, November 17, 2012. This week we talked about communication and power/conflict and the importance of counseling. When we communicate about 14% is the words we use, 35% is our tone and 51% is non-verbal. I thought this was really interesting because what we are saying is only 14% of what the other person receives and reads when we are communicating. Saturday, November 10, 2012. http://iamshannanigan.blogspot.com/2012/12/evil-is-stupid.html
My name is Shanna Jones and I started this blog for my Family Relations class (FAML160) at BYU-Idaho. I have never done a blog before so forgive me if I struggle a bit at the first. I am really excited for this blogging experience and to share some of my thoughts concerning the family. Friday, December 14, 2012. There are many valuable things that we must teach to our children. It is our responsibility. One of the most important things that we must teach them is that evil is always stupid.

First, the actual event. The day before I was to come out to BYU-I for college a pipe bursted in my home and my whole house upstairs and down was completely flooded. This had major damage to the interior of my house and to much of the furniture and other property inside. Links to this post. Sunday, November 4, 2012.

Friday, November 16, 2012. Something as simple as saying “I’m fine” has the power to mean several different things. This example was brought up quite a bit this week. Most people say that when a woman says she is fine it really means she is not. However, much of what she means is dependent on a few things. Not only are her words important, but also her tone of voice, and nonverbal cues. This is the case for all of our communication. I recently watched a clip from a documentary for another class. We work ...

The Masterpiece: September 2012
http://masterpiecework.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
Friday, September 28, 2012. In Through the Looking Glass. By Lewis Carroll, Alice had just helped the White Queen with her dress attire and suggested she get a lady’s maid. The Queen replied she take her for the job and pay her with money and jam. Alice replied with a kind rejection and mentioned she doesn’t care for jam either. The Queen soon explains this rule to Alice: “The rule is, jam to-morrow and jam yesterday - but never jam to-day.”. It was quite interesting. Whether it is between social classes...

Thursday, December 6, 2012. In TIME magazine, an article, written in May of 2006 by Pro Bronson, was entitled Are Stepparents Real Parents? It is an intriguing question. In his article, Bronson states, “Despite being ubiquitous, step-relationships are rarely recognized by the law. In most states, stepparents are considered "legal strangers" even if they have cared for and supported a stepchild for years. They have almost no official responsibility and barely any rights. What do you think? My friend didn&...

Ammon Dunn Family Relations. View my complete profile. Saturday, September 22, 2012. This week in family relations class we talked a lot about societal trends related to individuals, and families and culture. Many of the statistics and facts that were brought up were very interesting and eye opening about what those types of trends really are. But aside from those things, a few quotes from the reading by some church leaders really stood out to me the most. First was this one by Brigham Young. Picture Wind...
