Wednesday, 5 August 2015. Helen walking down the village street. In 1334 there were 26 houses here and a large manor house. There was also a series of fishponds that can be still made out that were fed by a spring up the hill that is still there. You can see the banks of the houses to either side of the path. Friday, 14 August 2015. The rain started about 2200 last night and was quite heavy until about 0100. After that it came and went and when we woke up it was just a heavy drizzle for the morning. I spent the morning converting the fruit I had found into jam which takes a surprisingly long time. Helen popped to a Charity shop where she had seen some wool on sale for a good price and did some crocheting. I reckon that there is about 20lb of jam here. An original bridge near to Tesco's. Saturday, 8 August 2015. Busy Braunston, as usual. I can have it returned at any branch of Midland Chandlers. We will see what occurs. The main stage is across from the pub and the field before it, accessed from dark Lane was filling up with cars. Parking was free but £7 to get in. We finally got to the pub to pay £6 for a pint of beer and a half of cider! There was another small stage outside the pub too for those too mean to pay the entrance fee. Sunday, 2 August 2015. Castle Shopping Centre was much bigger than we thought it would be. This entrance was once the Corn Exchange that was built in 1857. The statue on the top is Ceres, the God of Agriculture. I wonder how easy it was to carve the name in the stone. Was the old name removed first,or was it carved incorporating the old letters, or was it blank previously? Sunday, 17 May 2015. Clothes, culture and cream teas. We then walked in to the centre for retail therapy for the girls. They even braved Primark and each came out with something.
