First hard disk (5MB) was invented by IBM. The Summer Olympics were held in Melbourne, Australia. Rocky Marciano retired as the only undefeated Heavyweight Champion of the world with a perfect record. World Series - New York Yankees won 4 games to 3 over the Brooklyn Dodgers.
