NeedlesHooksPins: March 2011

http://www.needleshookspins.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html

Sunday, 20 March 2011. Event (Johnston Kitchens Joinery Shed). I was fortunate enough to be invited to exhibit in the now-finished Blockwork Art and Design Exhibition. Sally Johnston is the curator of these quarterly pop-up exhibitions, which alternate in theme between Visual Arts and Design and Photography. They are held in several places in Toowoomba, often at the Johnston Kitchens Joinery Shed which is, well, a joinery shed. I think the low setting stopped a lot of people from touching, but, setting.

NeedlesHooksPins: Creative Tanks

http://www.needleshookspins.blogspot.com/2012/09/creative-tanks.html

Saturday, 22 September 2012. In last week's post I briefly mentioned the Creative Tanks. Event that was occurring for the Carnival of Flowers this month. I was also involved in the Creative Tanks event last year. It's strangely nostaglic to be completing the same event, thinking about where I was twelve months ago. For 2011. I certainly wasn't in a place to post about the event. As it was happening. Didn't get around to it until January, tsk. Setting up in the morning, inside the store. Fingers crossed I...

NeedlesHooksPins: Woollenings about The Town

http://www.needleshookspins.blogspot.com/2012/10/woollenings-about-town.html

Friday, 5 October 2012. Woollenings about The Town. Preparations in the drawer at theGRID. Here's a brief retrospect on my activities about The Town in the last six months or so. I would have put them out before, and should have, but making works is a lot more fun then putting thoughts and feelings into words and visual aids. And remembering to take the photos, or have someone take them during the making process? Working on the beanbag cover. Teaching a peep how to crochet. Feet, knitting and Grace.

Sunday, 23 September 2012. Urghands hardening up, sore, turning into claws. Events in September-October don't look to be slowing down. Here's what we have so far:. What are you up to? The school holiday program that is being run by theGRID hybrid arts collective. School holidays begin in QLD for state schools today! TheGRID has classes on in the first week. Sunday, April 10, 2011. Sand by me sky is falling. I was recently asked to be in On Site,. An exhibition at made. creative space. In Toowoomba, curated by Elysha Gould. The exhibition invited artists to exploit raw materials (such as sand, rocks and cement) that were donated by Wagners. Other invited artists included David Usher, Christian Low, Alex Isaacson, Nathan Coleman and Jacqui Linane. Is a wordplay of the sand-written words 'stand by me'. http://qualischefski.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html

Saturday, November 13, 2010. So it has taken me a little while, but I am finally internetising the professional photograph (credit: the amazing cindy laine) of my work from this year's GraduArt catalogue. Jaded and bitter baby-sitter. The GraduArt exhibition opening was a success by the way - a great turn-out of people and many were impressed with my work. The exhibition at USQ features my work. They looked up to him; he looked down on them. She will go down with her ship of promises. I am often drawn to...

http://qualischefski.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html

Friday, March 26, 2010. Back in the habit. It has taken a little while this year, but I am slowly getting back into making art. I've started my honours degree, so I am trying to focus on my theory and dissertation, but making art is definitely helping me get through. Photos to come sometime soon hopefully. Also, I've got an art fan page on Facebook now, which might be an easier way to keep up with how my art is progressing. I'll definitely keep this blog going as well though. Tuesday, September 14, 2010. Paper and ceramic artworks in the works. Here are a couple of my latest 2D works. I'm hoping to combine elements from these (eg. the stark similicity of. And the layering and intense nature of. Every beginning has an end. I think working on a larger scale will hopefully make this transition easier, giving me more room to work with and allowing more visual space around the layered areas. 2010, acrylic, enamel and spray paint on colourfix paper. Friday, May 21, 2010. All in this together. Just a quick post; one of my newest 2D works. 2010, enamel, permanent marker and spray paint on colourfix paper, 50 x 70cm. I think they are coming along nicely. still just refining the visuals and the concept. The dots are very time consuming (thousands, all hand dotted! But worth it I think. There is something very engaging about the repetitive I think, even if it isn't entirely evident that it has been hand crafted. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Needles, Hooks & Books

Needles, Hooks and Books. A blog dedicated to completing those unfinished craft projects and reading books. Saturday, May 31, 2014. I once did a puzzle that was 2000 pieces and it was a Victorian Garden. It had all of this green grasses, 100 different types of flowers, etc. This puzzle I did as a tween and it took. My first puzzle was a dragon puzzle that technically did not have an edge. It did have an edge, but it was a shaped puzzle with curves and points. My next puzzle was a 1000-piece Mystery Puzzl...
