The City Kids Go To The Mountains.Yosemite! As you can see the wildlife was abundant.lots and lots and lots of squirrels.of course seeing them was preferable to seeing mountain lions and black bears. Bears are a big problem in Yosemite.you know how it is.people leave their Big League Chew, beef jerky and Gatorade in the car.mmmm yum doesn't that sounds delicious.poor bears they have to be dissapointed when they finally do get to the food.

Yep I finally did it. My doctor said to expect to be on crutches for three weeks, yuck, and after that I will be on the Immobilzer until my quad muscles strengthen. My flexion is very limited and at the time I wrote this I was about 90 degrees and am close to being able to straighten my knee. I have exercises that I have to do every day and I hope to be riding a bike soon. The pictures above were taken 48 hours after the surgery.

Off to Big Sky Country.Montana. And so we hiked and hiked and hiked.and I thought to myself.wow am I out of shape.backpacking is surely not the easiest thing one could do on one's vacation. The best part of the hike though was the fact that we only ran across two people on the trail who were also going to be staying at our campsite, two people! Dan was up bright an early starting breakfast and woke us promptly at 7.yes I did say 7.aren't you up by 7 during your vacation?

To get to our desination we had a long drive.we actually had to go through Yosemite on Tioga Pass and cross through the park. Once we were on the other side we got our wilderness permit from the Mono Lakes visitor station. I was happy to get a peek at the famous lake although I was very dissapointed that the gift shop didn't have any "Save Mono Lake" bumper stickers. Does anybody remember these?

When you finish the final hill you get really incredible views all the way until you start going down into Ten Lakes basin. I got a really good view looking over to Young Lakes and Mt. August 8 - 10, 2008 - Yosemite - Young Lakes. Everyone was ready to go the next morning and the weather was looking great again. The plan today was to first hike up to Upper Young Lake and then over to Roosevelt Lake. There is a use.
