365 DAYS 365 HIKES MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! Tuesday, November 17, 2009. Mount San Jacinto from Snow Creek via the PCT. DAY THREE HUNDRED AND TWENTY ONE. I start out at 5:30 am because I couldn't wake up any earlier. I wanted to start at 5 but I move slow in the morning. I really hate No Trespassing signs at the beginning of my hikes but I know it's OK for hikers so I ignore it. The sun is starting to come up so I can put my headlamp into my pack where it will stay until the very end of the hike. But even as...

Our adventure starts on the Cottonwood Lakes trail into the John Muir Wilderness. I'm hiking today with Carl Garczynski and his son, Matt. Oh wait, that's the wrong picture. Here are Carl (on the right) and Matt. Here's Matt crossing a creek on a well positioned log. After a long walk through the woods we get to a fork and head in the direction of New Army Pass. At the top of the chut...

Hike Every Day: Mount Tallac: Lake Tahoe's Best View
http://hikeeveryday.blogspot.com/2009/08/mount-tallac-lake-tahoes-best-view.html
365 DAYS 365 HIKES MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! Tuesday, August 18, 2009. Mount Tallac: Lake Tahoe's Best View. DAY TWO HUNDRED AND THIRTY. You start at the Mount Tallac trailhead and pick up your self issue wilderness permit. Even though it is before sunrise there are a couple of cars in the lot. The sun is shining on Mount Tallac above me. The temperature is cool but as the trail is a constant uphill I never feel a chill and quite quickly shed my jacket and put it in my pack. After hiking a bit further on tra...

http://hikeeveryday.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
365 DAYS 365 HIKES MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! Saturday, July 26, 2014. Favorite Hikes of the Year: NUMBER EIGHT. My eighth favorite hike of the year was my last one. Not only was I happy that I'd completed my goal but it was also a beautiful day in the desert and I was able to go to an area rich in history. There are so many wonderful places to visit in the Indian Canyons but the Bullseye Rock area is one of my favorites. I've been back many times since. Trading Post to Bullseye Rock. Hike Every Day: Favorite Hikes Number SIX
http://hikeeveryday.blogspot.com/2015/06/favorite-hikes-number-six.html
365 DAYS 365 HIKES MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! Tuesday, June 16, 2015. Favorite Hikes Number SIX. Mount Tallac is my favorite hike in the Tahoe area. Start early in the day and watch the sun rise over the lake and make sure you're down early because thunderstorms are frequent and can be deadly. Get caught in one and you'll make sure it never happens again. Getting down early also ensures that you can hit the buffet before the lines get too long. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Favorite Hike Number THREE.
