Anchor-Buoy-Pulley System for Anchoring Boats From Shore. A friend of mine wrote this article. About my setup which diagrams it better than I can. You will need to purchase the following items:. 300ft of 3/8 floating rope. Poly rope floats. Nylon does not. 5 Gallon bucket to store the rope in. 100ft of anchor rope. 10ft of 3/8 galv chain and a chain link. (This would be for a 16ft boat. Use more chain for larger boats.). Good anchor. Mine weighs 15lbs and can fold up for easy stowing. Let's give it a try.

Port Townsend Wooden Boat Festival, 2007. Port Townsend is the hub of wooden boat building on the West Coast. Each Sept they hold a Festival with over 200 boats attending and dozens of vendors which I attended for the first time. We watched this gentleman in his newly built 18ft John Dory sail to shore. This is an Iain Oughtred Design. He said it rows very well but has not sailed it much yet. The NW School of Wooden Boatbuilding offered a display of their current projects. Lots of boats on display.

Symphony Lake, June 29- July 1, 2007. Colleen and I hiked to Symphony Lake at the headwaters of Eagle River this weekend. It was stocked with Grayling in 2001 and 2003 and we heard rumors the Grayling have since grown to a respectable size and are reproducing on their own. We started our six to seven mile hike Friday night at 8:30 pm A view from the foot bridge on Eagle River. This time of year it stays light enough to hike all night long. Eagle Lake is glacial feed. I saw some fish rising here.

Homer Sea Fest Wooden Boat Show, May 26-28, 2007. My friend Jon and I drove to Homer to fish for Halibut and check out the Homer Wooden Boat show. This year they renamed it to the Homer Sea Fest because they combined it with the Kayak Festival and Sea Fair Safety Rodeo. The Homer Spit was very crowded because of Memorial Weekend and the festivals. We had good weather and caught plenty of small Halibut. Here's Jon holding up my biggest fish of the trip which weighed 30lbs. A small plywood pram.
