Aiyer International: Rendezvous in Paris
http://aiyerinternational.blogspot.com/2015/06/rendezvous-in-paris.html
Wednesday, 24 June 2015. We did a last minute trip to Paris this past weekend, and I'm so glad we did. Ram has been traveling to several different countries since last Sunday and heading his first road show. His boss and other colleagues joined him on this trip. It is a huge milestone for him and I'm so proud of him and happy he got one under his belt:). We arrived Saturday afternoon and after Riya's nap, we decided to just walk around. Our hotel was walking distance to the Galleries Lafayette, so we...

Aiyer International: October 2014
http://aiyerinternational.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Monday, 20 October 2014. I decided to start an evening book club so that I have another excuse to have a night out:) The first book we read was "Bringing up Bebe" by Pamela Druckerman. My friend Laine had high praises of this book and I was particularly drawn to it because it's about a New Yorker who married a Brit and they moved to Paris to raise a family. Did you know that if a toddler doesn't say "Bonjour" to another adult, it's socially unacceptable? I sometimes feel like a fish out of water raising ...

Thursday, 30 July 2015. NHS versus the World. There is no way we would have had that luck in the U.S. The UK's healthcare, known as the National Health Service (NHS), is funded by taxes and available to all at no cost. Now free healthcare sounds and is. Since I've had a baby under the Dubai healthcare system and will now have one under NHS, I thought it would be fun to compare the two experiences:). Needless to say in Dubai, they had no issues picking up the phone and sending you email/text. I don't unde...

Thursday, November 22, 2012. On the Saturday of our first weekend in Aberdeen, we decided to drive south along the coast to Stonehaven and visit Dunnottar castle. Along the coast of Stonehaven. Dunnottar means "fort on the shelving slope.". We hiked down a cliff to the rocky shore. The seal friend who came to visit us. The weather has been so good to us! Dunnottar Castle is most known for being the place where the Scottish crown jewels were hidden from Oliver Cromwell's army. Monday, November 19, 2012.

Wednesday, December 4, 2013. Journey to Northern Scotland. Epic Scotland Trip: May 2-6, 2013. James and I knew that we had to see the northern and western parts of Scotland that we hadn't seen yet. We saved visiting the Isle of Skye for May when we thought the weather would be warmer. Although the weather wasn't terrible, it certainly wasn't the least bit warm. This trip was amazing! By the end of our year in Scotland, we put 10,000 miles on the car! Date of this event: May 2-3, 2013. The Dunnet Head lig...

Monday, January 28, 2013. Date of this trip: October 5-7, 2012. Because this was our first time to visit London, we took a double-decker bus tour and absolutely loved it. As a matter of fact, we absolutely loved everything about London! If you haven't been, you need to go. Immediately. The Houses of Parliament. A view across River Thames (pronounced "Temz"). The Millennium Bridge is a pedestrian-only footbridge that crosses River Thames. James ate a proper English dinner of steak and ale pie. The Lewis C...

Friday, February 27, 2015. Isle of Skye- Claigan Coral Beach and Dunvegan Castle. Date of this event: May 4, 2013. Claigan Coral Beach is one of the many wee gems found on Skye. It was a bit tricky to find this beach. To find Claigan Coral Beach, follow these directions:. Take the road north from Dunvegan, past the castle, and follow it to its end at Claigan. There is a small car park at NG231537. Be sure to take a few minutes to enjoy the seals' entertainment. More adventures in Skye to come! MacGinger:...

Saturday, December 8, 2012. On October 23rd, I went on my first legitimate hike in Scotland with the ladies of the AWA. The leader of our group decided to take us to walk Scolty hill because of the remarkable views of Aberdeenshire. We were all very excited for the photo-op! Pausing to take a breather. Can't see where I am headed. We climbed all the way to the top for this lovely view of the fog. Alas, the weather got us. This just means we will have to do the walk again! Thursday, 24 July 2014. Ramadan, take two. This year we decided to stay in town during Ramadan despite my fear that I would rack up fines left and right. Ramadan began at the end of June (we're in the home stretch now! Every year it moves up a week or two but it always lasts 30 days. I was quite nervous going into Ramadan this year. Dubai by no means is the strictest of the cities, but they definitely take the holy month seriously and expect everyone to do the same, whether you are fasting or not. Every ...
