It actually lends greatly to the tone of the game’s universe, which is split evenly into the “real world” and cyberspace. The game’s reality is a pretty harsh place, with corrupt corporations, seedy hotels, illegal technology, and lawbots ready to drag you before a cyberjudge if you so much as talk to a hooker.
