Nethybridge 2010

Saturday, 1 May 2010. Day 5 started with lots of packing, organising and finding lost property before setting off on our last adventure - a forest walk to Loch Morlich. After a short minibus ride we walked along a beach and then into the woods, learning much information about the area as we went. In the woods we saw some spectacular scenery and the effects of nature were obvious on some of the trees. There was a bridge and stream just perfect for a game of Pooh sticks. The boat trip was better than the f...

Nethybridge 2010: Day 3

http://nethybridge2010.blogspot.com/2010/04/day-3.html

Wednesday, 28 April 2010. Another peaceful night at camp! Chalets are looking surprisingly tidy too! Football turned into rugby last night (choice of the other school! And many people were very tired afterwards. No wonder they slept well with all the fresh air and exercise. Here are some video clips from yesterday that we didn't manage to upload last night. Today has mostly been about climbing with all groups tackling the climbing wall and abseiling down a massive tree! Posted by Anne McRae. That looks l...

Nethybridge 2010: Day 4

http://nethybridge2010.blogspot.com/2010/04/day-4.html

Thursday, 29 April 2010. We were so tired last night that it was great to have a movie to watch instead of the usual physical activities at free time. Today was another mixture of activities with dry slope skiing, zipwire, adventure course, canoeing, archery and silver maze. Again there was fantastic team spirit and encouragement within the groups. We had a special visitor today! Tomorrow we will go on a forest ramble before time to head back on the bus. We finally managed to catch a squirrel on camera!

Nethybridge 2010: Day 2

http://nethybridge2010.blogspot.com/2010/04/everyone-behaved-immaculately-overnight.html

Tuesday, 27 April 2010. Everyone behaved immaculately overnight and had a good sleep ready for today and what a busy day we've had! We started the day with some orienteering around the grounds. Using the maps was a great way to help us get to know where everything is and finding some of the objects was quite a challenge. We had a competiton to see who could find most points and the result ended up very close. Razzle Dazzle were the eventual winners so well done Ryan, Ruth and Robert! Again everyone was v...

Nethybridge 2010: Nethy day 1

http://nethybridge2010.blogspot.com/2010/04/nethy-day-1.html

Monday, 26 April 2010. We all arrived safely at Nethybridge around 4.30 this afternoon. The boat trip was a wee bit choppy and resulted in some poor souls having a technicolour yawn! However they all handled it very maturely and felt much better when we got out into the fresh air. The bus was waiting at Scrabster and we had a lovely run down the road with the weather improving steadily as we went. We had a brief stop in Brora to stretch our legs and sample some of the delicious ice cream! Great to see th...

Sunday, 21 February 2010. This week we had visits from our MSP, Liam McArthur and our MP, Alistair Carmichael. Both of them talked to us about their jobs and how they represent Orkney in different ways. We also asked them questions about international, national and local issues in preparation for our BBC School report. Posted by Anne McRae. Welcome to p7M blog. Can you guess what we're making? We'll put photos on the blog of these when they're finished! In maths we're still working on money. We're learning about the different coins and notes. We're practising working out change. We practise buying things and giving change in the smoothie shop or the P3 and P3/4 shop.

Glaitness Class 3/4: News from the last week

http://glaitnessprimary3and4class.blogspot.com/2010/06/news-from-last-week.html

Sunday, 27 June 2010. News from the last week. This blog entry is about the more 'everyday' things that happened in the last week. There will be special blog entries about the rest of the week's events too. We spent a bit of time exploring what was still in the marine chest, before we had to pack it all away to send back to Scottish Netural Heritage for another class to use next. If you need lessons in how to make a colourful slideshow, just ask P3/4! We were very proud of the people from our class who h...

Glaitness Class 7M: Gas masks

http://glaitnessclass7m.blogspot.com/2010/04/gas-masks.html

Saturday, 24 April 2010. As part of our study of World War II we made some models of gas masks. Using sound effects from the BBC website we were able to simulate what it would have been like to go through an air raid and gas alert. We used our tables as air raid shelters. It was very cramped but thankfully our air raids didn't last very long. See some more masks. Posted by Anne McRae. Welcome to p7M blog. Glaitness Class 3/4: Canadian Day part 1 - Pipes & salutes in the Spirit Dancer

http://glaitnessprimary3and4class.blogspot.com/2010/06/canadian-day-part-1-pipes-salutes-in.html

Tuesday, 29 June 2010. Canadian Day part 1 - Pipes and salutes in the Spirit Dancer. For the first part of our Canadian Day the Spirit Dancer Canadian canoe came to school to visit us. Some Candians - Chris, Barbara and Bob - came too to tell us all about it. It's 42 feet long - that's nearly 13 metres long! We all climbed in and were given paddles to hold. Chris showed us how we would paddle the canoe - and also how to do a salute. Mrs MacNab was in the skipper's seat. Posted by Mrs MacNab and Class 3/4.

Glaitness Class 7M: September 2009

http://glaitnessclass7m.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html

Tuesday, 22 September 2009. Our trip to Stromness. We started off with a walk through Stromness looking for interesting buildings and plaques on walls to show where important events had taken place. It was like a treasure hunt! Do you know why there are cobbles in the middle of the street? Many famous ships stopped at Login's well to take water on board for their journey. We stopped for a break at the cannon. Some people were particularly interested in the model ships in the display cases!

Saturday, 26 June 2010. Do you like our totem pole? We made it in art. We looked at pictures of some Canadian totem poles and painted small ones first, then designed and made our big Orcadian totem pole. Here are some of the paintings people made. Posted by Mrs MacNab and Class 3/4. Friday, 25 June 2010. Keep checking the blog! There's been so much going on this last week of term that it might take a while for Mrs MacNab to get all the information and photographs uploaded. The SPECTACULAR Class Assembly.
