We usually sell baked goods and various crafts that our members or their friends and family donate. We have contributed financially to sending soccer uniforms and balls to Africa via Mark Gray who is a pilot flying for UNICEF. The Ste. HUDSON, QUEBEC, CANADA. Ongoing Activities and Events. The Children of Peace sponsorship programme has been supporting up to 200 orphans and other needy children for 3 years, in a poor but beautiful area of Eastern Uganda. The project is based at the Bududa Vocational Institute, a small vocational school set up by Barbara Wybar, the projects Director - a Canadian who lives in Uganda for 9 months of the year. The Children of Peace programme helps children to break the cycle of deprivation in their lives.

We were inspired by Beth Gray, one of our founding members, who volunteered as a nurse in Tanzania for several months. We are very fortunate indeed! Grannies Aid for Africa, a group of women from the Hudson, St. Lazare area, has as its mission to raise funds to assist grandmothers in Sub Saharan Africa who are caring for their grandchildren after the death of their own children due to AIDS. The group also seeks to raise community awareness of the plight of these women and children due to the pandemic.
