Journal excerpts, letters and cards, events and occasions in the lives of my Nevard ancestors. Saturday, May 9, 2015. Yesterday, May 8, 2015 marked the 70th anniversary of victory over Europe day. It was a momentous day and mention is made of it in a letter home from Dick Nevard. Who was stationed in England at the time. Bill Nevard makes reference to the event in his journal on the 13th of May. Roy was home for a while. He has been working for Tom Heggie and now he is going to work for Rudolph Hiske.

This weekend I broke a rim on my truck making a tight right turn that resulted in an encounter with a 18" tall 6" concrete post protecting a fire hydrant. It's a long story but it's because someone (not me) was helpful and chose to return a lost item. Monday the truck was towed to the dealer. Or so I've always been told. 1937 was exceptionally dry. Some of the cereal crops were too short to even make a decent sheaf with the binder so there was a lot of spare bin space that year. I don't know if grain prices went up in response but it wouldn't help much if you had none to sell. Links to this post.
