NeverLost: November 2013

http://www.neverlostann.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html

Adventure is worthwhile in itself." -Amelia Earhart. November 24, 2013. Those of you that know me well know that I am a ridiculous animal lover. I get more excited about animals than I do about most things. I plan on becoming a cat, dog, and bird lady later in life. So it really shouldn't be a surprise that I dedicate a blog post to some of the animals that have become a part of Colin's and my daily life. Here are some of the stars:. Then there are the ducks. There are anywhere from 8 to 16 ducks at any ...

Adventure is worthwhile in itself." -Amelia Earhart. March 9, 2013. Banos means more than Bathroom. After 3 weeks of city dwelling, Colin and I decided it was time to head to a place that we love.back to nature. Quito had been great. It was a perfect start to our overseas traveling. We'd had a great family, a good school, and a steady group of friends that had welcomed us and made us feel at home. Still, the rest of Ecuador was calling. Sounds good to me. :). Happily, all is well there. And now we work!

NeverLost: Floating Markets Of the Mekong Delta

http://www.neverlostann.blogspot.com/2015/03/floating-markets-of-mekong-delta.html

Adventure is worthwhile in itself." -Amelia Earhart. March 19, 2015. Floating Markets Of the Mekong Delta. Colin and I made our way from the Vietnam border at Ha Tien to the city of Can Tho. Can Tho is the largest city in the Mekong Delta region and has many activities and sights to offer it's visitors. One of the most popular things to do is a tour of the floating markets. Our first stop was at the Cai Rang Floating Market. Most of the boats had long bamboo poles sticking up into the air, advertizing wh...

NeverLost: A Day at Angkor Wat - 8th Wonder of the World

http://www.neverlostann.blogspot.com/2015/03/a-day-at-angkor-wat-8th-wonder-of-world.html

Adventure is worthwhile in itself." -Amelia Earhart. March 10, 2015. A Day at Angkor Wat - 8th Wonder of the World. After traveling through Thailand and Laos, we were what many travelers refer to as "wat-ed out." You can only see so many temples before they begin to lose their grandeur. Because of this, we were happy for the option of the one day pass - regardless of our guide book yelling at us to do the three day pass or more. We stuck around long enough to see the dawn arrive, then left the crowds and...

Be Still: June 2015

http://sarah-sarahann.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html

Sunday, June 28, 2015. Joshua and I have been talking about making beer together for awhile and now that school is out we finally had a chance to get started. Eugene has a number of home brewing stores and it was fun to go look around before purchasing what we need. We got a kit with all the ingredients to make porter. First, we steeped the grains. One of the important things to remember is that you should always drink something home fermented when you are making home brew. This weekend it was time for b...

Be Still: Family Time

http://sarah-sarahann.blogspot.com/2015/07/family-time.html

Wednesday, July 8, 2015. We arrived in Modesto Sunday morning and enjoyed exploring the backyard, relaxing, and eating lots of good food while visiting with family and friends. Dave grilled entire dinners on the barbecue almost every night; that's what I call summer living! Solace showed me how she is learning to be a ballerina before her dance class. It was fun to see how much she has grown, but she's still her friendly and energetic self. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Visit with Ben and Rachel.

Friday, February 20, 2015. I was so excited to discover we have daffodils growing right outside our arbor. Spring is coming. Sunday, February 15, 2015. We decided to have a four-course meal for dinner to celebrate. Freshly Baked Sourdough Bread and Gruyère. Pork Chops and Asparagus. Molten Chocolate Cake with Raspberry Sauce. It was fun to eat a fancy meal on our china from Great Grandma Bushway and the food was delicious. Sunday, February 8, 2015. When Life Gives You Lemons. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

http://sarah-sarahann.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html

Friday, January 30, 2015. We have really been enjoying this salmon recipe lately. I think I found it in one of my Taste of Home. 1 T orange zest. 1/3 cup orange juice. 2 t Dijon mustard. 2 t olive oil. 4 salmon fillets (5oz each). 2 T chopped pecans. We used our last California orange to make salmon tonight, but I'm thinking about trying it soon with Meyer lemons. Sunday, January 4, 2015. Goodbye California, Hello Again Oregon. Saturday, January 3, 2015. Michelle arrived Wednesday later in the morning an...

Sunday, March 29, 2015. The cherry tree is blooming; I can't wait to eat cherries from this beauty. Saturday, March 28, 2015. Back at the house, we enjoyed the chocolate creme pie I brought for dessert. It is always nice to spend time with good friends. Sunday, March 15, 2015. All in all, it was a fun way to celebrate turning 32. Saturday, March 14, 2015. Here are some of the sweet rolls that I spend a lot of time with. Twice a week I make big batches of rolls, about 120 each time. We have four t...This ...

Matt and Katia had to get back to California, so they left shortly after noon on Saturday. We were glad they took the time to detour up to visit us. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Matt and Katia Visit. http://sarah-sarahann.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

Sunday, May 31, 2015. Trip to Meet Ezra. I flew down to California Wednesday to meet my newest nephew, Ezra Grey. I was excited to have window seats on both my flights and some amazing views. I tried to sleep most of my second flight, but woke up in time to see Half Dome and Yosemite Valley before we landed. Thursday morning, Mom and I went blueberry picking and got two full buckets of blueberries. Picture with the cold kids. The air was warm, but the water is still quite cold. Be Still: Fireworks

http://sarah-sarahann.blogspot.com/2015/07/fireworks.html

Monday, July 6, 2015. Friday night we went to the Rawhide game because they have a fireworks show after the game on July 3. A sisters picture from Michelle's Instagram. Snow cones are part of the tradition. This year it wasn't as hot as usual, which was appreciated. Evan brought Pokeman cards to play with Uncle Joshua. The fireworks were good as always. I love big fireworks. On the fourth, we had a swimming and dinner party at Dad and Mom's house. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). He's been looking for...

Be Still: August 2015

http://sarah-sarahann.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html

Sunday, August 23, 2015. We did some experimenting with food recently by making dolma with the grape leaves from the arbor and smoking fish. Grandad gave us a smoker that someone near him was getting rid of and it was exciting to try that out. It smelled so good while it was cooking. The fish and dolma both turned out well; although they could use a little work still. But it was fun to try some things that were different. Wednesday, August 19, 2015. Saturday, August 15, 2015. Visit with the Nickells.

Travel Guide through disfunction. Neverlost4good on the Camino De Santiago. Will I make it? A junior. And the last section, after Cruz de Ferro, I began to slow my pace; savoring the scenery and the characters I met in the albergues.
