In 1991, Assistant Director Malave decided it was time to make his dream a reality and become a more integral part of City’s mission to protect the lives and property of its citizens by applying for the position of Firefighter.

Growing up in the North Ward of the City, Assistant Director Raul Malave knew that he was destined to become a public safety servant when, at the age of 7, his family’s Summer Avenue home caught on fire. He was astonished at the well-coordinated efforts and dedication exhibited by the responding police and fire personnel. It was then that he committed to becoming a public servant.

Director Anthony F. Ambrose. Public Safety Director Ambrose was born and raised in Newark. He received both his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees from Farleigh Dickinson University.
