Andrew's Thoughts and Experiences: November 2013
http://andrewbenjaminwebster.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Andrew's Thoughts and Experiences. Wednesday, November 6, 2013. The New York Marathon. After 18 months of anticipation, two trips to America, $600 in registration fees and more than 100 training runs, I finally crossed the finish line of the New York Marathon on Sunday. I felt disappointed and even slightly embarrassed. The disappointment hasn’t gone, that’s for sure. But I do want to remember how I feel now so I can savour my next marathon success, whenever that may be! The journey to the start line.

Andrew's Thoughts and Experiences: May 2011
http://andrewbenjaminwebster.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Andrew's Thoughts and Experiences. Tuesday, May 31, 2011. Give me back the ticket man. Going to the cinema has changed. I don't want to become one of those 'it was better in my day' sort of people as I grow older, but I feel I can no longer suffer in silence in my less than frequent trips to the flicks. At the heart of my complaint is the welcome you get as you enter. Also, when did film viewing become a class based sport? Why have cinemas felt the need to bring in the VIP option for the more wealthy?

Andrew's Thoughts and Experiences: December 2011
http://andrewbenjaminwebster.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html
Andrew's Thoughts and Experiences. Friday, December 16, 2011. The day I nearly met Jonny Buckland from Coldplay. Yesterday I nearly met Coldplay’s guitarist. His name is Jonny Buckland. I was on my way to a Coldplay charity gig. I got on the jubilee line at Baker Street towards the O2 arena. I sat down and across the carriage from me I saw a man wearing a beanie and looking quite stylish. I thought that’s a coincidence, he looks EXACTLY like Jonny Buckland from Coldplay. 8220;Hey, how’s it going? But I w...

Andrew's Thoughts and Experiences: Conquering demons in Paris
http://andrewbenjaminwebster.blogspot.com/2015/05/conquering-demons-in-paris.html
Andrew's Thoughts and Experiences. Tuesday, May 12, 2015. Conquering demons in Paris. So my last blog was 18 months ago about the disappointment of crashing and burning at the New York Marathon. And in that blog I said: “I want to remember how I feel now so I can savour my next marathon success.”. Well I’m pleased to say that that day has come. Two weeks ago, I completed the Paris Marathon in 3:34 – exactly an hour quicker than New York! But a year later, and with the usual ‘I’m past it’. Crisis on my 31.

Andrew's Thoughts and Experiences: November 2011

Andrew's Thoughts and Experiences. Friday, November 18, 2011. Time to go Sepp. Reading the Guardian over a fish finger sandwich on my day off, I came across a story analysing the reaction to Sepp Blatter’s absurd suggestion that racist abuse in football should be settled with a ‘handshake’ and is all part of the game. Think of a subject to talk about that will connect with the average man….football. According to Owen Gibson's story in the Guardian:. 8220;Ed Miliband, the labour leader, said: “I thi...

Andrew's Thoughts and Experiences: September 2011
http://andrewbenjaminwebster.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
Andrew's Thoughts and Experiences. Wednesday, September 28, 2011. Well it started in disaster. My good friends Stevie and Kate were willing to give me a lift at 7am in the morning - very kind of them. To get my bike in the back of their car, I had to remove the front wheel. The bike fitted in the back like a glove. All the signs were good so far. I could feel myself welling up. It won’t cost any more than that to replace will it? Trying not to think about that too much, I quickly joined the last group, d...

Andrew's Thoughts and Experiences: February 2012

Andrew's Thoughts and Experiences. Wednesday, February 8, 2012. The English in Tallahassee. Tallahassee is the city of the motor car. Not in an unpleasant way, but more in a practical way. It doesn’t have a particularly large population at 200,000. But with a limitless amount of space around that city, it has stretched its legs and spread over a huge area. This means that daily amenities and shops have taken the liberty of having a bit of space. Why not? Burger King, Best Buy, Publix. What this adds up t...
