Legend In My Mind: Depression and all that jazz

Legend In My Mind. To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift" - Steve Prefontaine. Friday, November 21, 2008. Depression and all that jazz. One reason I run, do yoga, pilates and lift a few weights is to escape depression. I firmly believe that if I take care of my body my mind will follow. I'm told that we're in the midst of the worse financial crisis since the Great Depression that my dad experienced in the 30s. Maybe I'll lose my job and have to run for a living? Kansas farm life w...

Legend In My Mind. To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift" - Steve Prefontaine. Friday, August 31, 2007. Hoping someday I'll return to the trails where my tough friends dwell so I can tell them about my setback if they want to listen, and they usually do want to hear from a fellow runner. I suppose it's just one of the responsibilities of running that brings runners together for sometimes brief and occasionally lengthy chats. Tuesday, August 28, 2007. CES also offers a speedwork se...

Legend In My Mind. To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift" - Steve Prefontaine. Monday, December 17, 2007. Reuters, the news company I work for, asked me to write a personal account of my experience this year concerning my heart attack and my return to the living. This piece ran globally on Sunday. The "witness" stories are usually reserved for some Reuters correspondent who has witnessed first hand a battle in a war zone, a devastating tornado or a hurricane. I hope to see you on ...

Legend In My Mind. To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift" - Steve Prefontaine. Saturday, September 29, 2007. I realize this isn't quite as exciting as telling you about a grueling 20 mile long run in the heat and humidity with biting horse flies nipping at my heels, but this is the best I can do at this point. But, I'm alive. Life is short, enjoy! Tuesday, September 25, 2007. The past several days have been pretty enjoyable considering the spot I've been in since early August.

Legend In My Mind. To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift" - Steve Prefontaine. Wednesday, February 04, 2009. Isn't it amazing how short a mile is when you're in shape and how long a block is when you have diarrhea? So true. So true. :). I laughed so hard I practically choked on my drink! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Windy City, Midwest, United States. Thas me in the white hat wit my friend Larry. We ran a marathon once in San Diego, California and boy was it hard work!

oregon adventures: April 2006
http://oregonadventures.blogspot.com/2006_04_01_archive.html
Sunday, April 30, 2006. Posted by JeffM at 7:34 PM. Friday, April 28, 2006. One of their neighbors called over and told me they saw me on TV (my commercial). Lynn's father said he saw me on channel 12 during American Idol. When I went swimming Tuesday at Mt Hood community college, a couple of people I always talk to said they saw my commercial. Did I deprive them of the social structure of a stepfamily? Posted by JeffM at 8:13 PM. Wednesday, April 26, 2006. So I tried to keep it up even though it was tir...

New-ier and improve-ier for 2007. A mini-script with The Weez. VG: So I was talking with Mrs. Neighbor today. She mentioned that she’s going to help her daughter by being an example for her final exam. TW: (distractedly) What’s her daughter studying to be, again? So, Mrs. Neighbor is going to let her daughter put her to sleep? How can that even be legal, with all the malpractice stuff? VG: (stifling laughter) Um, honey, that’s anesthesiologist. TW: Oh. Well, good. Posted by Veeg @ 12:40 PM. But my most-a...

New-ier and improve-ier for 2007. Why I'm Going To Hell. One of those cliche'd list entries, just so I don't go two days without posting. 1 I forgot that yesterday was Ash Wednesday, and had a cheeseburger and fries for lunch. 2 I laughed at the lisp of the person who gave the homily at AW Mass. 3 After leaving Mass, I turned to my friend and said, "Hey! There's some dirt on your forehead.". 4 I keep referring to St. Anne Catherine Emmerich. As "that woman with the hallucinations.". The endless list-maki...
