Elke Van Der Kelen - Chemigrams
http://www.elkevanderkelen.com/chemigrams.html
Elke Van Der Kelen. I was introduced to the world of chemigrams by Pierre Cordier who showed me the hidden beauty of traditional photo paper and the endless possibilities it carries within. Chemigrams are created by applying a sticky substance such as varnish, honey or lipstick on the surface of the photosensitive paper. Then the paper is alternately passed into the fixative and the developer baths until the desired result is reached. Amazingly all this can happen in plain daylight.

Elke Van Der Kelen - Panoramic Pinhole
http://www.elkevanderkelen.com/panoramic-pinhole.html
Elke Van Der Kelen. During a short trip in march 2013, I captured the beauty of the Portuguese coast with my pinhole camera. This panoramic camera is custom made by Willy de Smet and does not have a lens but instead a tiny hole where the light can come through. This requires a shutter speed of several seconds up to several minutes. The result is smooth and timeless.

Elke Van Der Kelen. This series is dedicated to the beauty of womankind. It is a representation of the power of passion; a mixture of desire, cruelty, joy and gentleness. Forbidden Colors incorporates old erotic pictures from books and flee markets as well as my own pictures of animals and cityscapes and nude portraits of myself taken by Pitr Smelov.

Elke Van Der Kelen - Bio

Elke Van Der Kelen. I have received training as an architect/scenographer but am autodidact within photography. I have always been fascinated by the magic of photography, the beauty of images created by different cameras, each with its own specific characteristics. My preference lies within analogue photography, with a specific appeal for my panoramic pinhole camera, handmade by Willy de Smet.

Elke Van Der Kelen - Holga colored series
http://www.elkevanderkelen.com/holga-colored-series.html
Elke Van Der Kelen. All the pictures in this series are taken with a Holga, which looks more like a toy than a real camera. It is fully constructed out of plastic including the lens. Yet the Holga uses a professional 120mm film, and it is precisely this contrast that makes the camera interesting to work with. In this series I wanted to explore the point and shoot feeling through the eye of the Holga, resulting in a colorful and playful representation of mundane scenes.

Elke Van Der Kelen - Pescadores
http://www.elkevanderkelen.com/pescadores.html
Elke Van Der Kelen. This series catches the atmosphere around the daily routine of a group of fishermen on the coast near Lisbon. They bring their 300m wide fishnet into the sea with a small boat and then pull it slowly back to shore with the help of tractors. Once the net is back on the beach, they sort and sell the fish. This routine happens 4 to 6 times a day. It is a testament of the ancestral fishing practices still alive today.
