Monday, 29 July 2013. Gentile Believers (“Christians”) and the Commandments of Torah. 8220;Whoever then annuls one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever keeps and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven”. Should Believers in Christ (Messiah) Keep the Law (Torah)? Many prefer to understand the verse that opens this essay in light of Matt. 22:40. And while there is no explicit teaching from ...

Friday, 14 December 2012. Well, it's that time of year again, and this year I feel compelled to share some thoughts about "Christmas." I offer this meditation in a Berean spirit and pray that it will be received the same way. The obvious and early Christian recognition of Christ’s death and resurrection, convinces me that we ought not to celebrate His birth. The overall biblical context about the Messiah is His suffering and death, not His birth; believers are to have a share in that death. 2 Cor 1:5, 9.

Saturday, 18 October 2008. Decision-making and the Will of God. Sorry for the long hiatus between postings. I've had some fairly serious health issues to contend with over the last several months.). One (as a human being, a partnership, or a corporation) that is recognized by law as the subject of rights and duties. Merriam Webster Online Dictionary. Do we make them on our own, without guidance? I’m currently re-reading a book entitled Decision Making and the Will of God. Will for each person is unbiblic...

Wednesday, 13 May 2009. I believe a brief word is in order concerning the time away from posting to this site. In all honesty, I’ve had to contend with serious medical problems for several years but which became most significant last July when I was diagnosed with Deep Vein Thrombosis and accompanying Bi-lateral Pulmonary Emboli. The seriousness of my condition caused me to drop out of seminary (PRTS) and to cut back on many of the activities I had been engaged in for some time. Please pray for me. Chapt...

Wednesday, 18 June 2008. Prayer, the Holy Spirit and Doing the Will of God. Recently, I have been thinking more about the Holy Spirit. In two earlier posts ( January 15, 2008. And January 21, 2008. But first, we should know how we are to pray. What are some marks that characterize Godly prayer? We are to pray with humility in ourselves ( James 4:6, 10. But with boldness in Christ ( John 15:7. We are to pray trusting that our prayers are heard, and not with a doubting attitude ( Matt. 21:22. 8220;This is ...

Thursday, 1 May 2008. The Basic Problem: God’s Standard of Righteousness (The Bad News). 8220;… the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually…. “The LORD has looked down from heaven upon the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, who seek after God. They have all turned aside, together they have become corrupt; There is no one who does good. 8221; (Gen. 6:5; Psalm 14:2-3). For something better....

Tuesday, 14 July 2009. Why Does God Allow Suffering? In our last post (Part One). We looked at the problem of suffering and ended with the question, “What is God’s solution (the Bible's answer) to the problem of suffering? It is our intention now to try and answer the question as truthfully as we are able, but that briefly. But first however, I can hear someone saying, “Hey, I wasn’t even around then, when Adam ate the forbidden fruit. Why should I be punished for his crime? In me you may have peace.

Wednesday, 5 June 2013. Random Thoughts on the Validity of a Saturday Sabbath. My personal belief thus far. As a necessary first assumption I believe we must concede that whatever order of days God ordained has continued from the creation. I believe that not a single day has been “lost” (see Joshua’s long day below.) Therefore the order of days is the same today as it was for Adam in Eden, regardless of what each day is named. But how do we know what the order is? Signs and for seasons,. If Jesus had not...

Saturday, 23 February 2013. Some Random Thoughts on Baptism. The early church was a sect within Judaism; it did not start as a separate entity from Israel. The first “Christians” were Messianic Jews. This is simply an historical fact. Christ ordered his apostles to preach the Kingdom only. To “the house of Israel” (Matt.10:5-6, italics added) and said categorically of His own mission from God that “ I was sent only. The implications are enormous. Can we learn the truth of the purpose of baptism in the NT?
