Gardening with the Gragstons: More beans
http://gardenwithjeremy.blogspot.com/2013/06/more-beans.html
Gardening with the Gragstons. Saturday, June 1, 2013. Just harvested some beans to eat with some friends. 4 varieties of pole beans. This is my first season growing pole beans. I grew bush beans previously to save space. I have read that pole bean plants produce over a longer period so I dedicated some trellis space to give them a try. I wanted to try multiple varieties to see which ones could handle the Fresno heat and still taste good. We'll see, another heat spell going on right now.

Gardening with the Gragstons: Serviceberry plant
http://gardenwithjeremy.blogspot.com/2013/03/serviceberry-plant.html
Gardening with the Gragstons. Tuesday, March 26, 2013. This is my serviceberry plant purchased at Gazebo Gardens in Fresno. They only had 4 serviceberry plants, 2 named Smokey and two unnamed seedlings. I could only get 1 at the time. They are supposedly like blueberries so I think having 2 different varieties would improve yields. Blooms are nice. Labels: Amelanchier smokey service berry serviceberry Saskatoon. Gardening with the Gragstons: July 2012
http://gardenwithjeremy.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Gardening with the Gragstons. Wednesday, July 25, 2012. Well, maybe I will try anything but raw. Cucumber substitute.hmmm.Pickles! So I looked up a refrigerator pickle recipe and made squash pickles. I went ahead and pickled some peppers with the same simple recipe. They are delicious after just 2 hours in the fridge. What a great way to use up all of that extra squash. The reviews I read influenced me to cut the sugar by 75%. Here is the way I made it. In a sauce pot, add:. 1 tablespoon of table salt.

Gardening with the Gragstons: December 2011
http://gardenwithjeremy.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html
Gardening with the Gragstons. Sunday, December 25, 2011. Well, I think I've held on to my pepper plants long enough. Just pulled all of the underripe peppers off to dehydrate. Wanted to check if the habeneros were hot so I tried a green one and yep. If they survive tonight, and if I have time, I'll overwinter the plants in pots in the greenhouse. Wednesday, December 7, 2011. These are from some plants that just died from last nights freeze. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.

Gardening with the Gragstons: June 2012
http://gardenwithjeremy.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
Gardening with the Gragstons. Tuesday, June 19, 2012. Some pictures of my 3 garden beds. Each one is 4'x8'. Middle one is 8" high and others are 6". Chinese Five Color Pepper. It is a heirloom pepper that I grew from seed. Two of them survived the move. The peppers are supposed to change to five different colors as they ripen. The package didn't say that it had purple flowers. So far, it's the only pepper I've grown that doesn't have white blooms. Saturday, June 16, 2012. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
