Tablets, GPS, cellular networks, and web-based control. High-level illustration of the architecture of our software (click for a larger view). The system is entirely web-based and can be run from anywhere in the world — but only authorized users can sign in. Is a web page that transmits GPS coordinates and other local bus information to the server. When viewed by a web browser on a mobile device, the client displays messages to the driver and/or passengers. Recognize when a bus arrives at a checkpoint.

Delaying buses briefly at certain checkpoints equalizes headways. It is hard for buses to adhere to a schedule because there is a tendency to bunch. The result is that riders experience a long wait, after which several buses may arrive together. Worse, a schedule is inflexible. If a bus breaks down it leaves a gap in service and this gap tends to grow.
