Next Stop: Dadhood: August 2015
http://nextstopdadhood.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
Stumbling through post-30s fatherhood and socially acceptable maturity.one oblivious step at a time. Sunday, August 2, 2015. Shark Attack, Baby! 8220;The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear…and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown.”. 8211; H.P. Lovecraft. Our yearly summer vacation was nearly at hand. A full week of surf, sun, and sand at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. It’s an event that our family looks forward to every year. No worries of work, school, or schedules.
Next Stop: Dadhood: June 2014

Stumbling through post-30s fatherhood and socially acceptable maturity.one oblivious step at a time. Thursday, June 12, 2014. Math was never my strong suit. That’s putting it politely. Seeing a long equation on a chalkboard registers roughly the same in my mind as one of those speed-reading pharmaceutical announcers reciting their drug’s horrendous side effects in Mandarin Chinese. My mind’s wired to simply shut itself down and looks for the closest escape route. The classic flight response. Much like fa...

Stumbling through post-30s fatherhood and socially acceptable maturity.one oblivious step at a time. Sunday, March 10, 2013. The More Things Change. Coming back from a family vacation a few weeks back, our route home took us past my alma mater. Although I have tried on many occasions to make it back with my family for one of the alumni weekends over the years, the opportunities always seemed to be trumped by one of our kid’s numerous weekend activities. New and updated buildings and restaurants and the r...
Next Stop: Dadhood: I Guess This is Growing Up
http://nextstopdadhood.blogspot.com/2014/03/i-guess-this-is-growing-up.html
Stumbling through post-30s fatherhood and socially acceptable maturity.one oblivious step at a time. Monday, March 3, 2014. I Guess This is Growing Up. My wife and I have always made it a point to raise our children around an environment filled with music. Be it having a variety of instruments lying around the house for them to experiment on or simply just having the TV off and the radio on for the better part of the day. Some days it may be a little country, others a little Christian or Top 40. Whether ...

Stumbling through post-30s fatherhood and socially acceptable maturity.one oblivious step at a time. Wednesday, May 8, 2013. For Christmas this past year, my youngest daughter received a kid’s easel as a gift. It was the perfect gift that allowed her to do two of her most favorite things in the world, draw and paint. When she unwrapped it though, she made a face and seemed as though she didn’t like it. Thinking that she didn’t quite understand what it was, I tried to open the box to show her. It was thos...

Stumbling through post-30s fatherhood and socially acceptable maturity.one oblivious step at a time. Friday, January 5, 2018. Are You Out of Your Vulcan Mind? Are you out of your Vulcan mind? I try not to paint that false picture of my wife and I as the perfect parents of perfect children. I would like to think that most people, including fellow parents, would see right through that awful façade anyway. Who are you kidding? I have three of them myself. The anti-Spocks, if you may. You know those posts.

Tuesday, August 27, 2013. Restaurant Week 2013: Zaytinya - Washington, DC. What's NEXT: Our first stop for DC Restaurant week was Zaytinya. My friends and I have been here before (earlier 2013), but the food was so good. That we had to come back again. It’s a Greek/Mediterranean tapas. Restaurant owned by celebrity chef Jose Andres. Seemingly, it’s the amazing flavors of the brussels sprouts, succulent lamb or the complimentary pita bread that keep me thinking about this place. The food was excellent.
