Cataclysm Raid Progression Graphics. I was playing around with the WoW Model Viewer. You are free to use these graphics in any way you please (well, since it's all Blizzard's artwork regardless, in any way THEY please). However, PLEASE DO NOT LINK TO THESE GRAPHICS DIRECTLY! All of these graphics can be downloaded in this convenient 11MB package. NOTE: That package also contains the original GIMP/XCF files, if you want to customize them. though you will additionally want to grab the Faerie font.

Linux router conntrack settings. This is one of those "I'll never remember this again if I don't write it down" types of posts. So entirely for my own purposes, basically :). I have a linux box acting as a firewall/NAT device for my local network. Among other things, I'm using conntrack modules for NAT connection tracking to handle proper NAT port forwards and also for firewall rules to filter active connections properly. Random drop-outs and network connectivity problems in HTTP-based video streaming.

The Reality of Edmonton Urban Sprawl. I was listening in on the Edmonton City Council's public hearing. Regarding the proposed west and southeast LRT routes, when someone brought up that old bugaboo about Edmonton being quite possibly the worst major city in the world for urban density. You don't have to look far to find this claim. the first paragraph on Wikipedia. Will do the trick:. We can see in the top two images (Chicago and Toronto respectively) that the city limits don't even come close to encomp...

It's been a while since I've posted about EVE Online. Or, let's be honest, rambled about it. I felt like posting a new ramble because, well. mostly because I like the sound of my own voice. But also because CCP has been through a lot of ups and downs and their future, and the future of EVE, was looking pretty shaky for a while. Recently, though, it feels as if they have finally found the right track again. Whereupon I offer a biased and unabashedly opinion-laced view of EVE's history. Starting in about 2...

What is the I Ching Oracle? The I Ching Oracle is a divination method based on the ancient I Ching text, also known as the "Book of Changes". What is the difference between the present hexagram and the future hexagram? As your hexagrams are divined, you may notice some odd looking lines, like this. When this happens, it indicates an "old" or "changing" line in the hexagram. This means the hexagram for your divination is changing from a present state to a future state. When the significance of the I Ching...

The Kindle Seduced Me. So I was surprised, even shocked, to feel within me a growing lust for the Amazon Kindle. After learning that the global version. This funny feeling didn't even begin with the Kindle. My attention was first drawn to modern ebook readers by a chance internet encounter with Sony's PRS-300. And I fell in love! More precisely, I fell in love with the e-paper. All that remained was to decide which one it should be. I'd like to report that I was an informed consumer who spent weeks r...

EVE Online - Anathema. A friend of mine. Recently posted some screenshots of his favorite mounts, including an Amarri Anathema. Not to be outdone, I had to dredge up a screenshot of my Anathema as well :). EVE Online - Anathema.

Civilization 5 - One City Cultural Victory. I've been playing Civilization 5. The streamlined gameplay makes multiple game runs a much more viable option now, since even late-game empire management does not devolve into the arduous stack management and city micro of previous iterations. The snow and tundra told me that I was near the edge of the map, which would be a great help to remaining unnoticed for as long as possible. The furs meant I would have at least one early luxury for happiness and trad...

Yes, I play Warcraft. I'm not proud to admit it, but there you go. My main toon is an Elemental Shaman named Koe. But recently I've been playing a Protection Warrior alt, Sizzink. More often. Of all my alts and toons, she has the most complicated setup as far as hotkeys and macros go, so I figured I'd write a blog post about it because, well. why not. It's always good to practice my writing. For Warcraft I've left T at the default of toggling autoattack and F at the default of assist target. This lea...
