He say that man is an idle rationalist, but then he says that he would bow down to perfected human reason. If animals are really better than humans, wouldn’t a “perfect” human be even more repugnant to Wilmot than one who shares at least some of those animal traits? I find that the goal of this paragraph is not to show how inexpensive it would be to supply children for the poor to eat, but to inform the public how inexpensive and easy it would be to help care for these helpless children.
