Mt Carmel - Ministries
http://www.mtcarmellutheranpdx.com/ministries.htm
In your honor, a donation has been made to the Mt. Carmel Good Samaritan Fund. Thanks to the giving spirit, the Good Samaritan Fund helps those in need in our community. At Mt Carmel, deaf people are invited to particpate in worship services, contribute to our church community, and volunteer in our outreach ministries. We have an American Sign Language interpreter at at least one Sunday service per month (the third Sunday). In the past, a deaf member has administered a 10-week basic ASL class to members.

A place for hearts and lives to overflow and inspire others! October 7, 2012. Have you ever been somewhere you didn’t want to be? Someplace you wished you could leave? I think most of us have, and usually in a short time we are able to leave. We leave, got to a place where we are comfortable, feel safe, or enjoy the situation. A place for hearts and lives to overflow and inspire others! Orphans from “real Russia”. October 13, 2012. We left the warm weather of mid-fall in Moldova to a dreary gray and cold day in Moscow. Winter has already hinted at its arrival, but no snow has fallen yet. As we arrived and started to move through the city, I immediately sensed the changes in culture between these two countries that had both been a part of the U.S.S.R. at one time. Carefully I asked our three Russian guides, leaders of Children’...

A place for hearts and lives to overflow and inspire others! What makes the difference? October 8, 2012. As I sit here reflecting on the last three days my heart is jumbled up. I am filled with hope and promise, while also knowing of the great needs and problems all around me. I am struck by how little I can do to help, but am also aware that I can do something, anything, to help. We came on this trip to learn about and address the needs of human trafficking. How can this happen? Since returning to the s...
