Queen Ketchup: On The Other Side
http://queenketchup.blogspot.com/2013/12/on-other-side.html
Wednesday, December 18, 2013. On The Other Side. I'm happy to say that we made it! To St Louis, of course - but also, generally, we made it through the last month and a half. To briefly recap, Jonathan started his job in St. Louis the 2nd Monday of November, so Bates and I had almost 3 weeks alone in Memphis without him. Not sure if I have any single parent readers - or maybe some of you have spouses who travel a lot? Either way, my hat goes off to you! Bates loves to play with his big cousins (and I lov...

Queen Ketchup: Ketchup
http://queenketchup.blogspot.com/p/ketchup.html
I love ketchup. When I was a kid, I called it "kee-ko." At an early age I learned that french fries/chips/anything can act as vehicles to get more ketchup in your mouth (condiment schmondiment). I've been known to eat plain ketchup with a spoon. I can tell the difference between Heinz and Hunts (and prefer Hunts) and am always on the lookout for new ketchup products. I will happily put ketchup on many, many foods and eat it at least once a day. I know it's high in sugar and sodium. The Birth of Griffin.

Queen Ketchup: March 2014
http://queenketchup.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Thursday, March 27, 2014. Spring Has NOT Sprung. Used to tell me April was one of the hardest months of the year living in Chicago because of the weather. Basically, it's April. So you feel like it should be warm (since, you know, Spring), but it's actually not warm yet. Sometimes it's still really cold. And sometimes it snows. But when I heard this as a Memphian, I thought to myself, "well, at least you have. But either way, Summer here is still really hot. Maybe Fall is the magical season here? Absolut...

Queen Ketchup: Fetal Friday? (19 Weeks)
http://queenketchup.blogspot.com/2014/02/fetal-friday-19-weeks.html
Friday, February 7, 2014. Oh what the heck - how about the return of Fetal Friday for a few weeks of this pregnancy! Right now I'm at 19 Weeks. Most people have probably heard that one's first pregnancy is very different from any subsequent pregnancies - and in my personal experience, this is quite true! I don't mean to downplay this one at all - because of course, we are PUMPED about a new baby - but just in terms of thinking. About the pregnancy, it is very low. So with that to say, I feel great! It's ...

Queen Ketchup: Thoughts On A Move
http://queenketchup.blogspot.com/2013/11/thoughts-on-move.html
Friday, November 1, 2013. Thoughts On A Move. Even though we had discussed the possibility of moving to St. Louis, in my mind, we weren't brave enough to actually do it. That is, leave this city that we love - Jonathan's parents, our friends, our awesome church community - to start all over again. Would grow up, envision the schools our kids might attend, think about the neighborhoods in which we might buy our "grown-up" house. There's a certain level of adventure, of course, which adds some excitement t...

Queen Ketchup: Pregnancy
http://queenketchup.blogspot.com/p/pregnancy.html
Symptoms I have are cysts on the ovaries and an abnormal ratio of lutenizing hormone (LH) to follicle stimulating hormone (FSH). (In some European countries if a woman doesn't have these two symptoms plus. Insulin resistance, PCOS is not officially diagnosed. But in the US, the diagnosis is given when one has 2 of the 3.). I documented my whole pregnancy on the blog:. The day we found out. On his due date, February 26, 2012. We didn't know the sex, so our baby boy was a wonderful surprise. Subscribe to: ...

Queen Ketchup: My Toes Can Tell The Story
http://queenketchup.blogspot.com/2014/01/my-toes-can-tell-story.html
Thursday, January 16, 2014. My Toes Can Tell The Story. Six months ago, this was a beautiful, fresh pedicure:. Bates and I spent a week at my mom's house in July and she watched him one day so I could go to the nail salon. I usually get my toes done about once a month during sandal season, but this past summer I didn't. I looked at my pitiful toes the other day and thought how much this pink polish has seen in the past six months. We worked hard and fast to get our house ready to go on the market. Maybe ...

Queen Ketchup: Natural Childbirth
http://queenketchup.blogspot.com/p/birth-story.html
Before I was even pregnant, I was interested in natural childbirth. I loved the idea of a woman's body doing what it was designed to do. I also liked the idea of a woman's mental stamina pulling her through intense pain to let her body perform exactly as it was designed to perform. During my pregnancy, I wanted to be as informed as possible about what was going to happen during labor. We attended a 4-week class on general pregnancy/childbirth info (offered by my OBGYN's office). We attended 2 cla...By Su...

Queen Ketchup: July 2014
http://queenketchup.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Thursday, July 31, 2014. The Birth of Griffin. Well, I woke up at 2am on the 4. Of July and started having contractions. They were only 30 seconds long and weren’t super painful. They were also pretty far apart, so I just lay in bed and breathed through them (and tried to rest my eyes between each one). I looked at the clock and thought, “I’m going to have a baby by this afternoon! Around 6am, I woke Jonathan up and said, “we’re going to have a baby today! When we walked up to the desk in L&D, I had a co...
