Doha Diary

This blog is dedicated to chronicling the adventures of Jocelyn and Nick, as they travel to Qatar and back! Well, considering we haven't updated for months. we have a lot to catch up on! But one thing we will share right away: We are expecting our first child, a baby boy, in early February! We are especially happy to be living in our new apartment compound (gosh, another thing to update) because two other ASD couples who moved over here with us are also expecting, all within a few months of each other!

Steve, Ella & Morgan's Desert Adventures: February 2010

http://stevenella.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html

Steve, Ella and Morgans Desert Adventures. A collection of updates, photos, and random thoughts from Steve, Ella and Morgan. Friday, February 26, 2010. Have we really "gone local"? Last night we needed to do some grocery shopping for our excursion to the beach and desert today and wanted to combine our trip to the local supermarket with dinner in the same shopping mall. By way of background, our nearest shopping mall has exactly three (oops, make that four*). Photo effects courtesy of Sybil - Thanks!

Steve, Ella & Morgan's Desert Adventures: The Blame Game

http://stevenella.blogspot.com/2010/01/blame-game.html

Steve, Ella and Morgans Desert Adventures. A collection of updates, photos, and random thoughts from Steve, Ella and Morgan. Tuesday, January 26, 2010. As many of my fellow Qatar-based expats can confirm, banking services here leave a lot to be desired. However, even by the low standards that I've gotten accustomed to, the events of the past 24 hours warrant special mention. While I don't have a problem poking fun at QNB when I encounter a problem that arises out of their complete incompetence, it sounds...

Steve, Ella & Morgan's Desert Adventures: You can take the boy out of the desert . . .

http://stevenella.blogspot.com/2010/03/you-can-take-boy-out-of-desert.html

Steve, Ella and Morgans Desert Adventures. A collection of updates, photos, and random thoughts from Steve, Ella and Morgan. Saturday, March 20, 2010. You can take the boy out of the desert . . . What we have found the most amusing is the prevalence of tents in town right next to houses. That way the local men (sorry, but I'm guessing this is a guy thing) can hang out in the house for a nice meal prepared by the hired help, and then retire to the tent for an evening of shisha and coffee. Party on, Wayne.

http://stevenella.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html

Steve, Ella and Morgans Desert Adventures. A collection of updates, photos, and random thoughts from Steve, Ella and Morgan. Thursday, April 23, 2009. Two months and counting . . . Here is a picture of the compound where we are planning to live. . Saturday, April 18, 2009. After a couple of hours of dune bashing, we took a break to swim in the Inland Sea, which separates Qatar from Saudi Arabia, and then went to the tour company's camp site for a leisurely lunch in their tents. Here are a few photos:.

Steve, Ella and Morgans Desert Adventures. A collection of updates, photos, and random thoughts from Steve, Ella and Morgan. Saturday, December 26, 2009. Is anyone out there? After relying primarily on Facebook status updates to keep in touch with friends and family over the last few months, we've neglected our blog again but aren't sure who is reading it anyway. (If you read this, please say hello! So how was our Christmas, other than the above differences? Morgan started a new school year as soon as sh...

Vai se Qatar: Cumprimentando.

http://vaiseqatar.blogspot.com/2009/06/cumprimentando-e-dividindo.html

A vida no Oriente Médio sob lentes Brasileiras.

http://vaiseqatar.blogspot.com/2009/06/que-calor.html

A vida no Oriente Médio sob lentes Brasileiras. Ontem...

Nick and Joanie's Wedding

Nick and Joanie's Wedding. Honeymoon Super 8 Film. Super 8 film of our honeymoon to France, Morocco and Iceland in 2010. Want to see more? Hundreds of photos are on Flickr! Our time in Paris was very lowkey, partly because Joanie caught a cold on the flight into France and had to take it easy on the days she even left the apartment. She ended up spending every other day in bed with tea and fresh bread just recuperating. Yesterday we made it to a very blustery Iceland! Post Touradannt and Agadir. Two days...

Following The Way

Wednesday, March 21, 2018. There have been some hard things going on around Congo in the last month. The unrest in the East of Congo has been escalating and people have been fleeing the conflict. Though 30 bags of rice sounds like a lot it is only a drop in the bucket for the people in these camps. Our teammate Ashley Peterson went on the flight when MAF was delivering some of its aid you can read about her experience here. After they were forced to leave because of violence in the 90s. Everyday life - Trying to get it together

Trying to get it together. Scroll down to content. March 4, 2017. March 5, 2017. We bought a boat! In September of 2016 we attended a wedding on Long Island in NY. My husband, Nick, had been talking about buying a boat in the recent months, but honestly since neither one of us were sailors, I didn’t think he was all that serious. He specifically wanted to have a sailboat, not a power boat! After many hours of online research, Nick had already decided that if we were getting one it would be a Catalina 22.
