Rubaies to Tui | Nick on the Camino

https://nickmj.com/2015/05/10/rubaies-to-tui

Nick on the Camino. Nick on the Camino. Asymp; Leave a comment. This was a neat day. It was the last stretch in Portugal, crossing from Valenca into Tui across the river Mino or Minho depending on whose flag you salute. Not-very-Roman on Roman bridge. Looking North to Spain. Tui itself was a delight. It is a mini-Santiago with a Romanesque cathedral. Being a Saturday night, the place was jumping, quite literally in the case of the folk dancers. A very Galician Tui. We sat in the cathedral square for some...

Nick on the Camino. Nick on the Camino. Villa do Conde to Barcelos. Asymp; Leave a comment. I opened the shutters of my bedroom this morning and let in blue skies and a warm sun. Much more like it. Breakfast wasn’t served until 8:30 so the serious pilgrims had probably been on the road for a good few hours before I left the delightful guest house. View from the top. A walk in the woods. 8221; At which point the chicken on his plate jumped up and crowed. The sheriff then went and cut down the pilgrim.

Nick on the Camino. Nick on the Camino. Here we go again…. Asymp; Leave a comment. Anyway, here we go again – I start with a rucksack weighing only about two-thirds of the bag I started the Frances walk with. I’m going to walk about 160 miles in 10 days. Real-life, here I come. Nick on the Camino. Nick on the Camino. Barcelos to Ponte de Lima. Asymp; Leave a comment. Not very plank like bridge. A couple of miles later was the first signpost saying how far it was to Santiago – 171km to go. Given that I’ve now walked some 90 in three days that doesn’t feel like too much of an ask. Porto to Villa do Conde | Nick on the Camino

https://nickmj.com/2015/05/05/porto-to-villa-do-conde

Nick on the Camino. Nick on the Camino. Porto to Villa do Conde. Asymp; Leave a comment. I started by taking the metro out to the starting point at Matsinhos. Funny to think that that was going to be the last bit of powered transport for the next fortnight. From now on, the only thing that will take me from A to B will be my feet. The route isn’t particularly well way-marked but you’d have to be a moron to get lost -just walk North and keep the waves to your left. Bit tricky to get wrong. Next post →.
