Living Beautifully with Uncertainty and Change" - Retreat from Pema Chodron and Meg Wheatly. Sharon shared her notes from the retreat, and I was blown away by the following passage:. Here is a river flowing now very fast. It is so great and swift, that there are those who will be afraid and will try to hold on to the shore,. They will be torn apart and will suffer greatly. Know that the river has its’ destination. And I say see who is there with you and celebrate,. And When Things Fall Apart. I will defi...

First weekend of feeling like it could be a home! The other weekend was a 3 day weekend to celebrate fiesta- each city/town has a fiesta for their respective Patron Saint. Ours is baby Jesus- our St. Nino. Don't ask how long it took for me to figure that one out! So, we kicked things off by our efforts to widen the social circle outside of CRS folks- by inviting my old friends from MOROTO! It was a blast! So fun to be able to host friends, have good conversation- and COOK! Posted by Emily Nohner. Off we ...

As part of the efforts to recover in the typhoon struck area of Philippines, CRS (Catholic Relief Services) has a livelihoods team works to have registered members (in the thousands! Attend Agricultural Input Fairs wherein the local vendors are pre-approved by CRS for quality merch and availability of goods and the members are given a pack of vouchers in lieu of cash in which they can spend it at the fair. Often these are held for anywhere from 200 to 400 people. Here's what it looks like! One day I will...

It's Beginning to look a lot like Pantomime! Well, in Moroto Oct., Nov., and Dec mean one thing- CHRISTMAS PANTO! This year's show is Jack and The Moroto Beans! We have practices 3 times a week, but this week as we race towards performance weekend, we are there every night. My song and dance routines include, "The Stone is Mine" set to the tune of "The Boy is Mine" by monica and brandy, a little dance number with the girls to Beyonce's Who Runs the world? The littlest Muzungu in Moroto. Little Pietro is back in Moroto and walking everywhere and grabbing everything! He is such an adorable munchkin whose folks work for an Italian NGO here. They just came back after a long holiday. He stopped by with his mom on a walk last weekend, and I thought, well, maybe a bucket, some water, and cups/strainer would be fun on a hot day. Sure enough he was occupied for nearly an hour. It's the little joys :). Posted by Emily Nohner. Posted by Emily Nohner. Early early ear...

I gave this bag to Nicki as a gift, thinking it would be the perfect beach bag in Hawaii. Looks good on the island doesn't it? Can't wait till I get to enjoy the same sands in January with the Nohner fam. Posted by Emily Nohner. Friends gathered last night for Keren's housewarming party at the new Samaritan's Purse house. Used to be their office- it was an incredible transformation! Good to see some friendly faces, enjoy lasagna and some chocolate chip cookies I brought in a packet from home :). Classy&#...

5-Day R&R for turning 29! Anyways, people were making suggestions for R&R locales- but there would be caveats to consider: is this affordable? Would I be disappointed to leave after 4 short days? I saw this little blog and it seems to be a nice description of what's in store. Http:/ www.rustycompass.com/cambodia-travel-guide-37/siem-reap-6#.U4LJjfmSy2Z.
