Patina - Nick Roberson. Patina is the finish given to the surface of cast bronze. This is do by way of heating the finished bronze cast and applying chemicals to influence the look of the sculpture. If the newly cast bronze was cleaned and simply left outside in the elements the shiny metal would dull and start to react often giving verdigris greens and browns but in a random way.
