Geek, Nerd, Teacher

Sunday, August 26, 2012. I know, I know. I haven't actually finished reading/blogging about the Daily 5. But I have actually started doing it in my class. Actually, about all I've taught so far is Read-to-Self. And we're getting to the point where I'll be ending my constant modelling/procedural lessons and actually starting some lessons, so I figure it's as good a time as any to reflect on things so far. To start doing them during independent work time. I'm a little worried, but we'll see how it goes.

Geek, Nerd, Teacher: New Layout!

http://www.nicolesageek.blogspot.com/2012/07/new-layout.html

Saturday, July 14, 2012. With about T-minus 3 days to go in Tucson, I decided to do a little de-stressing by finally doing my own blog layout. I know the colors are garish and bright, but I like the combo (inspired by the lovely Teacher Planner Calendar I picked up from A Modern Teacher. Over @ Teachers Pay Teachers. Which, by the way, I am having a blast decorating and customizing). However, the best part is totally the comic book/hello kitty clip art, right? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Im a rec...

R n R's Happy Place: March 2011

http://rnrhappyplace.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html

R n R's Happy Place. Tuesday, March 15, 2011. Alabama, Part 2 (Opelika). Got in to Opelika (twin city to Auburn, Alabama for those who didn'tknow). Our first day was full of play outdoors. Amy and S have several parks they go to. This one was especially for smaller kids. You can tell S has been there. When we pulled into the parking lot and she saw the park equipment, she squealed with joy and start clapping her hands. S welcomed us into the house and was happy to see us - see the twinkle in her eyes?

R n R's Happy Place. Saturday, July 23, 2011. Taking Mom Home to Nome. Mom's wishes where to have her ashes spread on the hill close to our camp. My brother Carl is now the owner and caretaker of "camp". He and his wife Ginny have improved upon the simple cabin Mom and Dad built over the years making it an enjoyable place to spend time (minus the mosquitoes). Rusty and his wife Elizabeth flew with me up to Nome, taking Mom with us. It was nice to have all 4 of us "kids" together again in one place. While...

R n R's Happy Place. Sunday, May 8, 2011. Juneau Alaska Mendenhall Glacier Part Five. From this view, you can see the mountain to the left of the glacier in the background. In the foreground, there are ponds and creeks that resulted from the rocks, boulders and other stuff scraping the ground when the glacier was this far up. This view is a good shot of the light blue color of the glacier's lake, still with frozen top around parts of it and the darker color of the pond at the beginning of our trail.

R n R's Happy Place. Friday, September 21, 2012. Odds and Ends from our Oceanside trip. Kelp washed up on the beach. I can't remember ever seeing a whole plant before. The root where it was attached to the ocean floor. Sunset - one of many pictures taken of the sunsets. Took a picture of Bob and Gail, while looking at it later, Randy says look at the girl! I think this variety of cactus likes the coast better than my mother's yard in Sun City. Bob "reflecting" on the trip. Bob "posing" for the shot.
