I'm thinking about writing an article on the "trade names" of beads, particularly gemstone but others as well, in the jewelry trade. Here's what I have so far:. New jade = serpentine. Hello :) - Gemology Discussion Community. 17 November 2005 @ 09:29 am. I am very new to the world of gems and jewelry. I have been making jewelry for about six months and decided to learn about gemstones. I still use quite a bit of glass but it just doesn't have the look of the real thing. I don't know how far this will go with me. I have never been so driven and passionate to learn like this before. Anyways, good to be here hopefully I can learn and help others at the same time :).

Hello all. i am a self-taught beadwork artist. the past few years i have become very interested in learning to make the components i can't find or whose prices apall me. i am not averse to work and would rather make it myself than pay for it. not a common attitude these days. i don't want to offend anyone, please let my know if i am appearing too opinionated.
