March 3, 2012. Way back last summer I made a book with a very special cover. Totally forgot to blog about it. So, better later than never. The latest book from the lovely Kim Thittichai, Layered Textiles. Includes instructions on how to make faux chenille from painted newspapers. The practice piece was so pleasing to the eye that I turned it into a book cover. Faux chenille book cover. Dabbler in mixed-media with a love of paper, handmade books, and collage. Making Marks | jenhendesigns
https://jenhendesigns.wordpress.com/books/making-marks
This book was made from a compilation of four papers — beginning with paper 1 as the outside page of the signature to paper 4 the inside:. A drawing in black Quink ink that was washed with water making lovely smudge marks in different colours. Brown paper that had been roller printed with gesso, printed with black acrylic, over painted. Deli paper that had had soya wax painted on, inked with black acrylic; the wax was ironed off between sheets of newspaper. That newspaper was given a wash of colour.
