Nigel Holdcroft – a view from Nelson Street: Capital Budget slippage
http://nigel-holdcroft.blogspot.com/2015/07/capital-budget-slippage.html
Nigel Holdcroft – a view from Nelson Street. This is the blog of Nigel Holdcroft former leader of Southend Council. Tuesday, 28 July 2015. It appears under Cllr Woodley and his colleagues the Council is slipping back to its bad old ways. 17% slippage between late February and the end of the financial year is hardly impressive and the slippage against the opening year balance was closer to 40%. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Nigel Holdcroft was a Southend Councillor for 14 years and Council Leader fo...
Nigel Holdcroft – a view from Nelson Street: September 2014
http://nigel-holdcroft.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Nigel Holdcroft – a view from Nelson Street. This is the blog of Nigel Holdcroft former leader of Southend Council. Thursday, 25 September 2014. A bad week for Labour. If it is intended to bash the rich then why this arbitrary and ineffective approach? It is interesting that even senior Labour members are starting to show their dissatisfaction with the leadership on these matters and I struggle to believe that even Labour rank and file see Mr Miliband as a credible PM in waiting. Nigel Holdcroft – a view from Nelson Street: UKIP - now you see them - now you don't.
http://nigel-holdcroft.blogspot.com/2015/05/ukip-now-you-see-them-now-you-dont.html
Nigel Holdcroft – a view from Nelson Street. This is the blog of Nigel Holdcroft former leader of Southend Council. Friday, 15 May 2015. UKIP - now you see them - now you don't. I have raised before the issue of the legitimacy of any new Rainbow Alliance which may be formed under the continued leadership of Independent Party member Ron Woodley, but if the rumours are correct then the new team would not look out of place in the pages of an Orwell novel or Private Eye. It reminds me of the famous scene fro...
Nigel Holdcroft – a view from Nelson Street: May 2015
http://nigel-holdcroft.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Nigel Holdcroft – a view from Nelson Street. This is the blog of Nigel Holdcroft former leader of Southend Council. Sunday, 17 May 2015. I was interested to read a recent blog item by Conservative Councillor Tony Cox after his successful fight back on to the council following his unexpected loss last year. Tony is a capable and dedicated councillor and the Council and Tory Group are stronger for his return. So I know just how awkward Tony is feeling at the moment. Whilst on the subject of election result...

Nigel Holdcroft – a view from Nelson Street. This is the blog of Nigel Holdcroft former leader of Southend Council. Monday, 27 July 2015. Nelson Street - home for a nice yellow bollard! I have previously blogged on the rather extended saga of the resurfacing of Nelson Street which did not give great credit to the Council but did eventually result in an improved road and pavement surface for this picturesque and historically significant road. The following photograph shows the finished job. Nigel Holdcrof...

a word from wier: Turnout in Milton ward
http://awordfromwier.blogspot.com/2017/01/turnout-in-milton-ward.html
Words from Julian Ware-Lane. Monday, 9 January 2017. Turnout in Milton ward. I had this vague notion that the higher the turnout, the better were Labour's chances in Milton ward. This is a generally accepted rule for Labour across the country, although there are local exceptions. The reasoning behind this presumption is that Labour voters are seen as less inclined to express their suffrage; whereas Conservative voters, in general, are more eager to cast their votes. It is far from conclusive one way or a...

Words from Julian Ware-Lane. Sunday, 8 January 2017. Milton, #labourdoorstep, a campaigning start to 2017. How soon after Christmas can you get out campaigning? Well, the answer from this activist is before the New Year. I stuck to leafleting, mind you - although I am intrigued by the idea of canvassing in the days immediately following December 25th. I put in about three days of leafleting between the 26th and the New year. Labels: cllr julian ware-lane. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Video: Southe...

Tonight I volunteered at the Ferndale Baptist Church. Homeless shelter. http://awordfromwier.blogspot.com/2017_01_01_archive.html
Words from Julian Ware-Lane. Monday, 30 January 2017. Last week saw the annual general meeting of the Central branch. This clashed to some extent with the Holocaust Day Memorial Service, and so I missed the first half of the meeting. Central branch covers four wards in Southend-on-Sea: Kursaal, Milton, Victoria, St Luke's. This branch therefore has seven councillors, yet I think it should have all twelve. Certainly that is what we are working towards. Elected at the meeting -. Links to this post. Cllr Ju...

This is the blog of Nigel Holdcroft, Head of the Litigation and Dispute Management Department at Tolhurst Fisher LLP. Friday, 21 November 2014. More County Court issues. I have previously referred to the frustration felt by many legal professionals and their clients at the current economies being driven in the civil court system, notwithstanding the fact that the civil courts continue to operate at profit and should not be expected to subsidize other parts of the system. The first question that arises is...
Nigel Holdcroft – a view from Nelson Street
Nigel Holdcroft – a view from Nelson Street. This is the blog of Nigel Holdcroft former leader of Southend Council. Tuesday, 9 January 2018. The view from my office here in Nelson Street includes an opportunity, in moments of distraction, to watch activity in the road to include the regular motorists who drive up this one way street in the wrong direction and the use of the “on street” parking spaces. However recently it has been all change in Nelson Street with the latest bizarre “improvementsR...

Nigel Italian Club
The Italian flag or 'tricolore italiano', was born in Reggio Emilia on January 7, 1797, by decree of the Cispadane Republic's Parliament on a proposal by Giuseppe Compagnoni. The colours chosen by the Cispadane Republic were red and white, the colours of the Flag of Milan, and green which was the colour of the uniform of the Lombard Legion. A more religious interpretation is that the green represents hope, the white represents faith and the red represents charity, the three theological virtues. The Club ...
