A compendium of serious or otherwise: commentary, fiction, reminiscence and verse. 28 November, 2011. The subject arose in the course of conversation. I know I am not alone in this. I see TV-programmes in which people compete to do these. It all seems terribly complicated, though sometimes graceful, elegant or even athletic and certainly admirable as an example of co-ordination, balance and sense of rhythm; sometimes in a clever way, like mime, it is a means of expressing a story without use of words.
