We found a very nice camp in Hot Springs (a township) called Cold Brook Lake U.S. Army Corps of Engineers RV Park. A nearby day drive took us to Custer State Park. Aquifers have given the city a supply of water which has turned what would have been a very arid area into a picturesque oasis. Don't judge, everybody was posing for the same shot. Rosco and Chriss travels throughout Australia, USA and Canada. Monday, May 13, 2013. Great Sand Dunes National Park. We diverted to visit the Great Sand Dunes NP. This massive dune area is 107,000 acres and the highest dune is 750 ft. Just out of Canon City is a deep gorge called Royal Gorge. There is a narrow dirt road out of Canon City which took us into the mountains to Cripple Creek. An old mining town. This old Dodge (I think) caught my eye. It looked like it was still registered and in operation.

Rafters in the distance meander down Snake River. Cache Street looking toward the ski slopes. This is the Tourist Information centre. They have amazing displays of animals found in the vicinity.
