Evie's world is a wonderful place to be…. March 19, 2015. July 8, 2015. So here’s the ‘boring’ bit, our story. When I started the blog I kind of assumed, that the only people to read it, would be my friends who already knew me (and who kindly humour my rants). Those emails began, “This is without doubt the hardest email that we’ve ever had to write.” I find it terribly sad that we wrote that. W...I didn’t see myse...

Francene- Blog. Year 2014. How various countries celebrate Christmas. In China, December 25 is not a public holiday. Sugar-free me! | minibreak mummy
https://minibreakmummy.com/2015/04/06/sugar-free-me
April 6, 2015. A week ago, I decided to go sugar-free. I had put weight on over the last few months and was feeling tired and hungry all the time, and I suspected this may have been caused by eating too much sugar (e.g. doughnuts in the office, biscuits at meetings, ‘healthy’ cereal bars, etc.). I have read lots of books and articles* which convinced me that fructose (which is in most forms of sugar) has been making me fat for two reasons:. It is converted by my liver into fat. Unsweetened dairy products...

Just another WordPress.com site. Welcome to my world. February 2, 2014. Forever a nap-time writer? Trying to fit this in around a baby is harder than I expected it to be! On the subject of babies I have also started another blog. Anywho if you have anything you would like me post about in particular or any questions feel free to throw them in my direction 🙂. My other bl...

Keeping Strong and Moving Forward. Travel & Days Out. The day everything changed! Having already had 3 beautiful children of my own plus 2 step children and experiencing birth 3 different ways. I thought that I was a pro and lived in my own ignorant bliss that my 4th little bundle would make an appearance and be just the same as her older brothers and her sisters. How wrong was I! So at 12 days over due I faced another induction of labour. Something I had known for the last few weeks). It took an hour fo...

March 21, 2014. Today is World Down Syndrome Day. On this day last year, I was completely oblivious to the significance of the numbers 3-21. It once meant no more than a day on the calendar – March 21st, but now it signifies Trisomy 21, three copies of the twenty-first chromosome. Down syndrome. Today we celebrate The Blessing. It all feels so normal. Normal. Having a baby with Down syndrome isn’t as scary as it sounds. It is actually quite lovely. Happy World Down Syndrome Day! And tagged down syndrome.

Ensuring her journey is different from mine. Yesterday morning was busier than usual. S’s diagnosis a year ago at three plunged us straight into the deep end of special needs management. Our understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) was limited to clinical descriptions and bullet points gleaned from books and websites; it did little to prepare us for how it translated on an individual level. Following the diagnosis we were bombarded with pamphlets and telephone numbers of agencies to register with ...

Evie's world is a wonderful place to be…. July 30, 2015. 7 years ago I was heavily pregnant with the delectable Evie. It was my 30th birthday. I sat in court on a memorable MPS suit (divorce type of case) with the litigant in person from hell as my opponent. It was HOT unlike today and the room was like a sauna. I was officially on maternity leave but like the idiot I was, I agreed to go in for this particular matter. 😉🙉) and cried and refused to participate. Children help to capture that excitement th...
