nina's gardening notebook: Companion Planting
http://ninasgardeningnotebook.blogspot.com/2010/04/companion-planting.html
Photos and notes from my garden and allotment. Friday, 9 April 2010. So this year I am complicating things a little bit further by restricting which plants grow together. So far I have decided that I will grow nasturtiums again, these have so many uses from their aphid attracting qualities to their edible flowers, leaves and seed pods (which make great capers). I will plant these once again near my beans. I have also bought some marigolds from the garden centre. Maybe they will learn to tolerate each oth...
nina's gardening notebook: Petals a Plenty
http://ninasgardeningnotebook.blogspot.com/2010/04/petals-plenty.html
Photos and notes from my garden and allotment. Thursday, 15 April 2010. In my own garden there are still plenty of delights. The skimmia buds have burst into flower and fill the air with their exquisite perfume. The Rhododenron 'Christmas Cheer' is full of candyfloss blooms that are attracting the early bumble bees, although I seem unable to capture one on camera! The front doorstep is alive with the wonderful tiny purple flowers of Aubrieta. Garden bloggers bloom day. 15 April 2010 at 08:42. Lovely magn...

Photos and notes from my garden and allotment. Monday, 17 May 2010. A slightly late Garden Bloggers Bloom Day! Apologies for a slightly late GBBD. From me this month but time has been in short supply around here. But I did take the photos on the 15th so I still wanted to post even though it's taken a couple of days to get round to it. One of my favourite things in the garden at the moment are these chives with their wonderful buds that look as though they are made from a delicate Japanese paper. And for ...
nina's gardening notebook: Fighting Flea Beetle - A Homemade Organic Recipe
http://ninasgardeningnotebook.blogspot.com/2010/05/fighting-flea-beetle-homemade-organic.html
Photos and notes from my garden and allotment. Sunday, 9 May 2010. Fighting Flea Beetle - A Homemade Organic Recipe. After a busy couple of weeks and yesterdays cold and none to summery weather we finally managed a worthy allotment stint this morning. My maincrop potatoes are now in and my slightly belated broad beans are planted - just as some of them start to flower! Take equal quantities of mint, chopped onion, garlic and lavender stems. Cover them in boiling water and leave to stew for 24 hours.

Photos and notes from my garden and allotment. Sunday, 25 April 2010. How to be mean to beans. Put bean seedlings into heated propagator overnight to protect from falling temperatures. Next day have a leaisurely breakfast, it is the weekend afterall. Visit the hairdressers, browse in the shops. Make the most of the incredibly hot sunny weather and have a nice lunch outside in the sun. Go for a drink down at the beachside pub, the weather is so glorious it could almost be the Med! I am hoping that the hea...

Shiny NewAllotment Holder: May 2010
http://shinynewallotmentholder.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
Sunday, 30 May 2010. I'm a diligent weeder. To give my vegetables the best possible chance I do my best to remove all competition from competing weeds. At the moment, I reckon my average visit to the plot is split into time segments of 80% weeding, 10% planting, 10% sipping tea and admiring the views and watching the weather rolling in across the sea views. But boy-oh-boy, do my calves ache. A booming red ant. Or best of a. Ll, I dream of channelling Maya from Space 1999. Sunday, 9 May 2010. We were advi...

Nina i Paradiset
Wednesday, April 11, 2018.

Nina's notes
When I got back to the hotel, I quickly changed and then the phone call came through that the tour guide was there to pick me up. The front seat of the land cruiser was vacant so I claimed the seat as mine. The drive out to the sand dunes was a good 80 kms, and I felt weary. I just wanted to sleep. But as we got nearer and the landscape changed, I perked up from the excitement. I also noticed loads of other land cruisers driving in the same direction. And seriously, it wasn't THAT bad! Dinner was buffet ...
