nina's blog: March 2010

Recent posts to the OSG-List have introduced me to LibraryThing. It is an on-line cataloging system that is free for anyone up to 200 books. For a modest, voluntary fee any membership can be upgraded to include unlimited books. What's great is that all the information is already in the system. All you need is a small piece to identify the book (I used the ISBN number to locate my books), and voila! I saw the Tata Nano. At the Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum. On Friday. It is a very cute car, an...

I was working at The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art. Recently. What a well kept secret! While I am sure it is no surprise to Tiffany lovers, I was amazed by the high quality collection, the knowledgeable and friendly staff, and cute neighborhood. Every day that I was there, I marveled at finding all of those qualities together in a place I had never heard of. Of Art in New York has a nice Tiffany collection (and they do), you will be happily impressed with the Morse Museum. So what do you do?

Opening in the fall at the Smart Museum. Although any conscientious museum, art, or cultural professional would reject any material acquired in this way now, the practice still continues. Researchers ...

So what do you do? Prevent fires to begin with! Besides soot, water damage is common in the aftermath of a fire. So are chips and scratches from moving things hastily or without proper handling techniques. It can all be avoided with proper planing. The Canadian Conservation Institute. Is great resource to help plan for disasters. They have several "CCI Notes". That address specific topics. They also have a "preservation framework". Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
