SI Journey 2010: Lane: Ch. 6-7
http://leyendoyescrbiendo.blogspot.com/2010/08/lane-ch-6-7.html
Friday, August 6, 2010. Lane: Ch. 6-7. Again, where does Lane come up with his labels for revision? It is the action of the revision strategy that students engage in that holds onto their attention to go on this journey of 'revision'. Exploding the moment, another great tool, used to trigger students' minds for details in their writing. The whole process of understanding revision is an adventure, and I am confident that students will agree. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). 2010 SI Class Blog.

Cheryl's NIWP Writing Blog: Lain response
http://tromboneo.blogspot.com/2010/07/lain-response.html
Cheryl's NIWP Writing Blog. Sunday, July 18, 2010. Reaffirming the Writing Workshop for Young Adolescents. At the beginning of this article, Lain says that many teachers are nervous about "having middle level students behind the wheel." I am fairly comfortable with this, but I've been concerned that administrators or other teachers will think it shows that I'm not doing my job. It makes me feel a lot better to read all of these articles that show it to be a sound practice. NIWP Summer 2010 Blogs.

Writing, Sailing, Teaching: Workshops: A Reflection
http://warrenakin.blogspot.com/2009/07/workshops-reflection.html
Writing, Sailing, Teaching. Wednesday, July 29, 2009. The above only touches the surface of what I will be able to incorporate into my writing instruction next fall. I'll need time to go back through all the handouts, to reflect about and possibly modify activities to meet the needs of my students. I will definitely be holding on to the packets and using them in the future! It was a pleasure to see each teacher perform and do what they are good at! July 29, 2009 at 1:22 PM. Writing, Sailing, Teaching: Grading for Learning
http://warrenakin.blogspot.com/2009/07/grading-for-learning.html
Writing, Sailing, Teaching. Monday, July 27, 2009. Warren what you say here is so true. Grading is subjective no matter how we try to make it otherwise. It is not only the elephant in the room that no one wants to talk about in faculty meetings, it is the elephant we keep feeding and can no longer manage. Grading reminds me of healthcare in that the solution is so complex and yet so urgent. July 28, 2009 at 11:05 AM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. SI Journey 2010: Personal Book Review: Ralph Fletcher
http://leyendoyescrbiendo.blogspot.com/2010/08/book-review-ralph-fletcher.html
Saturday, August 7, 2010. Personal Book Review: Ralph Fletcher. And what about Fletcher? During his younger school days Fletcher made this statement after reading "Call of the Wild" by Jack London" saying, "Wouldn't it be unbelievable if I could write a book that would affect other people even half as much as this book affected me! These books taught me many things- mostly the power of words" (website). Fletcher also recalled how he wrote, sketched, and doodled in a writing notebook. Aha! Writer's Notebo...

http://warrenakin.blogspot.com/2009/07/response-to-lane-chapter-9.html
Writing, Sailing, Teaching. Thursday, July 16, 2009. Response to Lane, Chapter 9. I will probably try the roller coaster strategy Lane lines out in chapter, with the proper set-up, of course. But if a student looks off into the distance for a bit, I won't panic. And as for having a student write "blah, blah, blah,"- I'm going to stick with giving think time instead. July 16, 2009 at 5:46 PM. July 17, 2009 at 12:35 PM. I dont know about using blah, blah, blah, but its worth a try. At least its an alte...
