It is time for another trip! Earlier this year, my girlfriend and I decided to visit Alaska. Today is the start of that trip. We fly across the country to Anchorage. And will then spend a week exploring Anchorage, Seward. And the Kenai Peninsula. We hope to see lots of wildlife, enjoy the fantastic scenery and relax a bit. Maybe I will take some pictures too :-). In contrast to the cold overcast that joined me at Wetlands and Pony Pasture. A recent visit to Pocahontas State Park. Was nothing but sunny with strong hints of spring. Pocahontas State Park is mature forest, with bits of logged forest, a pinch of marsh, and even a drop or two of lake. There are several trails accessed from the heart of the park (all three miles or less - PDF map here. Or, if you are looking for a longer visit, a network of fire roads crisscross the park. Hanging out in the leaf cover.

Views from the valley floor. Here are a collection of photos taken from the floor of Yosemite Valley. All of these shots were taken just a short distance from one of the roads in the valley. Easy views to get. First up is a shot of El Capitan. Tammy and I ate lunch next to Merced River one day, and this was our view. The next photo after this is with my long lens, zoomed in on climbers on the rock face. They are completely invisible unless you look through something with magnification. Links to this post.
