Digressions: Smart as Geese?
http://noellesdigressions.blogspot.com/2014/01/smart-as-geese.html
Mostly dogs and yarn and books. Sunday, January 12, 2014. I took the dogs for a walk this morning because when it's a balmy 40 degrees at 8am on a Sunday in January, you and your fear-reactive dog DO NOT MISS the opportunity to go out at a time when no one else will be around. And no one was. We dodged a few cars, but no other humans or even a loose dog. January 12, 2014 at 6:59 PM. This was absolutely honest and beautiful. Thank you for sharing. Digressions: September 2013
http://noellesdigressions.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
Mostly dogs and yarn and books. Sunday, September 15, 2013. Reading Journal: Burial Rites. Hannah Kent's first novel, Burial Rites. Was published this month by Little, Brown. I don't remember reading an early review or putting it on my holds list, but I must've done both, because it showed up in my box last Wednesday. In other words, the conceit is identical to that used by Margaret Atwood in the brilliant Alias Grace,. I shall now eat my words. Kent, herself an Australian, provides realistic but not exc...

Mostly dogs and yarn and books. Tuesday, December 24, 2013. A wee bit of wishful thinking for Christmas:. I just hope next year they don't put up something worse. Saturday, December 14, 2013. Bertie Sue is SENSITIVE, Y'all. Or picky. Whichever. A year ago at just about this time, I made a sweater for Bertie Sue. I was inordinately proud of it, because, even if just a dog sweater, it was the first knitted object that I ever conceived of and knitted on my own without a pattern. And it was awesome. I am a f...

Twenty-one Feet: Because it's different for us
http://twenty-onefeet.blogspot.com/2012/06/because-its-different-for-us.html
Wednesday, June 20, 2012. Because it's different for us. I found this today. I think that it's one of those things that I feel good about sharing. There is a lot of truth to it. Women have so much to be concious of in the world of rape culture, manuals for men help them learn to be concious of it too so that perhaps, someday, it can change. Here's the post. Twenty-one Feet: Finally! Soup!
http://twenty-onefeet.blogspot.com/2012/06/finally-soup.html
Wednesday, June 6, 2012. I don't like soup. It is ok in some forms, I suppose. I like chicken soup sometimes, but really only with extra noodles and actual chicken chopped up and put in, and then perhaps if you drain off the broth. oh wait. huh. Ok, well, how about soup as a side dish? Maybe if it's wonton soup coming with the Chinese Canadian* take-out food, and I get to pick all the wontons out and leave the broth behind.oh. I did it again didn't I? I like some broth! I'll have the salad. The first imp...

Twenty-one Feet: November 2011
http://twenty-onefeet.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Thursday, November 3, 2011. Our closest living relative. The Bonobo is the living species that humans are most closely related to (and their relatives the common chimpanzee). We share a common ancestor and are separated by only a few million years of evolution. Equally evolved, but in different directions. Bonobos are able to recognize 'self' in mirror and other reflection tests. That's something a human child can't do until they are 18 months old. Posted by 21 Feet. Things you didn't know existed.
Twenty-one Feet: Sleepover what?
http://twenty-onefeet.blogspot.com/2012/05/sleepover-what.html
Wednesday, May 23, 2012. I was going to write a new blog post. It was either going to have pictures of penguins, or it was going to be a rant about how much I hate soup. But I got distracted by my stats again. Someone found my blog by googling "sleepover feet". I was so baffled by this one that I. Had to google sleepover feet and I must say. that is a world I didn't want to enter. I'd like to go back to thinking about soup. Posted by 21 Feet. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Mostly dogs and yarn and books. Thursday, March 29, 2018. ReadICT Are Words that Mean a Thing. A few years ago I was messaging a friend from out of town and I absent-mindedly referred to "ICT." "What's that? She wanted to know. It's the code for the Wichita airport, which has somehow become local shorthand for the city itself. Do people in Kansas City refer to their town as "KCI"? Do Los Angelenos talk about the city as "LAX"? And supported by the Wichita Public Library. I mean really. Should I reass...
