Noetic Concordance: Awesome Cover Friday: The Spirit Part Two
http://noeticon.blogspot.com/2008/12/awesome-cover-friday-spirit-part-two.html
The blog that respects your intelligence! Awesome Cover Friday: The Spirit Part Two. It's part two of my Spirit coverfest! Part one is over here. What I said yesterday still stands but I want to point out Eisner's use of shadow and line. Especially in the first two covers below. Also, I want to reiterate how awesome it is that each of these covers tells a story. Each image feels active as if there are things happening before and after it instead of just being a portrait. Labels: awesome cover friday.
Noetic Concordance: Awesome Cover Friday: The Spirit Part One

The blog that respects your intelligence! Awesome Cover Friday: The Spirit Part One. I love The Spirit. I have a deep fondness for Will Eisner's work and I am a big fan of Darwyn Cooke's recent reboot. I have such a love for this comic that I am making this Awesome Cover Friday last two days. The covers below are from Kitchen Sink Press's reprints of the post-WWII spirit issues. Makes me want to see how The Spirit got into that predicament and, more importantly, how he's going to get out. Transmissions From The Overmind: Just Say Yes
http://overtrans.blogspot.com/2008/12/drugs.html
Transmissions From The Overmind. Writings from Mr. Clever McFunnypants. Iused to do, well, a lot of drugs. I was messed up, man. I mean I couldn't get enough. I was insatiable. Constantly unsatisfied. Always looking for my next fix. Eventually it got to the point where the drugs weren't even getting me high anymore. They were just sustaining me. Man, they sure had me fooled. Take it from me: Listening to Phish does not a stoner make. My other friends started to notice. At first it was the little thin...

The goddamn batman since 2006. Tuesday, June 29, 2010. Review @ PopSyndicate: Zatanna #2. This week at Popsyndicate I review Zatanna #2:. After a slow week at the comics shop, I cast around on twitter to see if anyone had a good recommendation for a comic to review this week. The overwhelming favorite was Zatanna. 2, and they were right. In current comics, it's very odd for the second issue of a new series to be a perfect jumping on point, but this one is jsut about perfect. Head on over here. Following ...

http://phoning-it-in.blogspot.com/2010/10/big-hits-big-money.html
The goddamn batman since 2006. Wednesday, October 20, 2010. Big Hits, Big Money. The league has been acting rather responsibly on the point of concussions this year and though this year's injuries may simply be an aberration, they should continue to act responcibly and not make knee-jerk reactions. The NFL has long built itself on "big hits" being part of the game, going so far as to sell video tapes. It's fucking football. Stop being such a fucking pussy. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Oh yes you do.

October 14, 2015. At the Babel Conference. This past Saturday, I pretended I could shift my academic work day to Sunday so that I could attend the Saturday sessions of the 2015 Babel Conference. Here at the University of Toronto. I felt so guilty not working and yet, shirking my duties for one type of work led to a different kind of work that was just as, if not more, important in its own way. Like the same action, but it would not. The same action for the simple and laden reason that crocheting is an ac...
