Bread Cubes for Stuffing; G-free | Home-made, Gluten-free
https://nogluteninmycookies.wordpress.com/2010/11/27/bread-cubes-for-stuffing-g-free
Just another WordPress.com site. Bread Cubes for Stuffing; G-free. I think I am still full from my Thanksgiving dinner. It was great, and I am happy to say 100% gluten-free. This has been the first Thanksgiving I have had to figure out how to make things gluten-free and as it turned out making our dinner special for my husband, and non-stomach ache inducing for me was easier than expected. I was on my way to making my own gluten-free bread cubes. I figured the best way would be to make them the tradi...
Mexican Wedding Cookies | Home-made, Gluten-free
https://nogluteninmycookies.wordpress.com/2010/10/24/mexican-wedding-cookies
Just another WordPress.com site. The first time I made these cookies was for my sister’s engagement. It was a very informal celebration, just my family and my sister’s fiancé at home- The cookies were a hit, although at the time I followed a recipe with wheat flour. I’ve wanted to recreate these cookies in a gluten-free version for a while, I figured that these rather-dry-cookies would fair well without the elasticity of gluten. And they do! 1 cup raw, unsalted, unpeeled almonds. In the bowl of an electr...

Just another WordPress.com site. Grilled Turkey and Cheese…mmm. Although I am always glad to know what it was that was causing me pain, and I can always honestly say that it doesn’t bother me when people eat bread in front of me, there are still times when I miss some of the foods I use to love; grilled cheese is one of those. Delicious grilled turkey and cheese, now gluten free! Gluten Free Grilled Turkey and Cheese Sandwiches. 2 slices of gluten-free multi-grain bread (I prefer Udis). Melt 1/2 tablespo...
August | 2010 | Home-made, Gluten-free
https://nogluteninmycookies.wordpress.com/2010/08
Just another WordPress.com site. Archive August, 2010. I want “gluten-free” treats. When I started I bought gluten-free flour mixes and xantam gum but these were not giving me the results I wanted. I decided to do more research, and with the help of the supplies I found at my parents’ healthfood I came up with recipes that were all-natural, easy and gluten-free…and the results were delicious treats, I don’t just say so, my non-gluten free loved ones agree. They are awesome!
Review: G-free Ladyfingers | Home-made, Gluten-free
https://nogluteninmycookies.wordpress.com/2010/11/27/gluten-free-lady-fingers-expensive-but-good
Just another WordPress.com site. I love tiramisu. It is one of my favorite desserts. I like it so much that instead of wedding cake my husband and I , as well as all of our guests, had tiramisu on our wedding. We also serve tiramisu at the restaurant we own, and I make it for Thanksgiving every year. (It’s our own, and very peculiar, tradition.). I always use Giada De Laurentiis’ Chocolate Tiramisu recipe. I think it has a ton of calories per serving, but I only make it once a year. It is worth it. You a...

Making Miami Mine: #101 Try on wedding dress at Miracle Mile
http://mialiving.blogspot.com/2011/01/101-try-on-wedding-dress-at-miracle.html
Friday, January 28, 2011. 101 Try on wedding dress at Miracle Mile. Ok, so technically this didn't happen on Miracle Mile. And technically, I didn't try on any wedding dresses myself. And of course, I'm not engaged. Of course H. looked beautiful in every gown, and she found just the right one. When I walk down the street, it's always fun to window-shop and day dream. I still can't imagine trying to decide which dress is "the one." Though I do have to say one thing:. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Sunday, July 25, 2010. It had been many moons since I had danced. I realized exactly how long and thought: I cannot continue without dancing. So, I went to a milonga in Aventura. It was a bit of the viejito lonely hearts club, but fun. I was nervous I'd trip on my feet and stumble on the giros. Luckily, dancing tango is like riding a bike. You just hop back on. I feel like I'm back in Buenos Aires. But the song ends, and I'm here in South Florida and want to be there. 6 Walk in Coral Gables. 50 Eat at Ve...

Friday, August 20, 2010. 85 File radio story. Radio is pure storytelling. Or the theater of the mind, as a great professor once told me. This piece was so fun to report for radio. (The Miami Herald and WLRN have a partnership, which rocks.). The piece is about a group of artists and writers in South Florida - the Foryoucansee collective. They're trying to break Latin stereotypes and celebrate the Miami they know – 17 syllables at a time. So, here’s some Hialeah Haiku to go with your rice and beans. Eddie...
Making Miami Mine: October 2010

Thursday, October 21, 2010. 54 Eat a croqueta. This was the scene of CroquetaFest 2010. I did not start it. I swear. I enter the bakery section at the Publix grocery in South Miami and am perusing the pastries. (Much to my diet's chagrin.) Suddenly I hear a guy in Spanish say: "Qué estás haciendo? Te están mirando," another employee tells his chubby coworker, nervously snatching the croquetas. "Las cámeras," he added. Sunday, October 10, 2010. 98 Go to art fair. I like the snow cones, too. Making Miami Mine: #62 Run @ Venetian Causeway
http://mialiving.blogspot.com/2010/10/62-run-venetian-causeway.html
Saturday, October 9, 2010. 62 Run @ Venetian Causeway. The Venetian Causeway connects the mainland of Miami with Miami Beach. It crosses Biscayne Bay and strings together small islands along the way. It's also super close to the Herald and lovely to run. The views distract and inspire so, you nearly forget to lift your knees, swing your arms and breathe as you run. And the breeze is better than air conditioning. November 10, 2010 at 10:15 AM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

Saturday, September 25, 2010. 25 Join youth group. Faith is important to me. So is community. And the St. A's young adult group has helped me feel rooted in Miami. We have weekly discussions on faith, and hang out afterwards. We help out on service projects, like serving at a soup kitchen. And every so often, we play volleyball at the beach or at the University of Miami. Pray and play. 37 See Fairchild Gardens. I didn't just see the botanic garden. I became a member of Fairchild. Lots of palm trees;.
Making Miami Mine: The List
http://mialiving.blogspot.com/p/list.html
This blog started from a list and a conversation. Shortly after moving to Miami, I made a quick visit back home. And on my return flight to Florida, I got very excited that I was going back to my new home, and a new life. So I pulled out my writing pad and made a list. (Because I'm a list maker who makes lists of lists.) I wrote down 102 things to do in Miami to make my life here. (Don't read the photo too carefully or I might blush.). L suggests a blog. L. has great ideas. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
Making Miami Mine: June 2010
http://mialiving.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
Saturday, June 19, 2010. I had my first pen pal in second or third grade. I don't remember the year, just that out of the blue a card arrived from my mom's high school friend from Pennsylvania. I had never met her, but she asked if I would be her pen pal. I felt special. And she promised to always try and find peacocks cards for me, because she liked peacocks and peacocks were special. I saved them all. Here's to the nearly lost art of handwriting notes. 26 Meditate at la Ermita. I sit and meditate. ...

No Gluten Girl | Because 9 year old kids are not into eating salad all the time
Because 9 year old kids are not into eating salad all the time. A kid who’s gluten free. Back to school snacks. August 27, 2015. August 6, 2015. Snack food can be surprisingly hard to find being gluten free. Yet, at the store, I found one of the best brands I’ve ever eaten. Definitely five stars. It was Skinny Pop. And it’s so good! Skinny Pop is low calorie, gluten free, and crazy good! Plus, my non-gluten free friends and family love it too. I love Skinny Pop – do you? August 2, 2015. August 2, 2015.

No gluten? My goodness!
Sometimes steak and lard. Sometimes raw and vegan. Always beer and tacos. Always gluten-free. March 10, 2012. Same reason I got the sushi that one time: hunger and laziness and desperation. The usual reasons for trying something usually beautiful in nature, and sullied by grocery store delis (see: deviled eggs, roasted chickens, salads). Really isn’t too bad. The dual lettuces amused me. I wouldn’t have bought it, if it was all iceberg. Iceberg’s not good for you. The wine has a much lovelier description.
