It quickly developed into an agricultural community, producing vast amounts of wheat, peaches and other crops. Despite the devastation by the 1938 flood, North Hollywood continued to grow. During World War II, it was home to many airfields. After the War many of those airfields were transformed into suburbs for returning veterans, resulting in a population boom.
