Blogging the birth of ten different banana species and a couple other tropical plants. Thursday, February 25, 2010. Roots and standing upright. ALRIGHT, so we have some action going on. The little Flame of the Forest is starting to finally look like a proper plant. For days and days the little seedling didn't seem to be doing anything at all. I was worried that it was too wet, or didn't have enough dirt, or was too cold. But finally about a week ago I noticed ROOTS (! What do you think? Delonix regia - F...

http://www.nolabananas.blogspot.com/2010/02/slow-growin.html

Blogging the birth of ten different banana species and a couple other tropical plants. Friday, February 12, 2010. Not a whole lot has happened. It still looks the same, but is sticking further out of the dirt. I wonder if there was enough dirt on top of it? I think I'll just leave it alone for a while longer and see what happens. Sorry folks, hopefully it won't die on us! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Roots and standing upright. The suspense is killing me. Delonix regia - Flame of the Forest.

Banana Blog: Delonix regia - Flame of the Forest

http://www.nolabananas.blogspot.com/2010/02/delonix-regia-flame-of-forest.html

Blogging the birth of ten different banana species and a couple other tropical plants. Sunday, February 7, 2010. Delonix regia - Flame of the Forest. So here we are again, on Super Bowl Sunday, talking about plants. Here is a picture of the first seed to sprout, one of the Flame of the Forests (AKA Royal Poinciana). Not very impressive, I know, but I am excited! Here is a picture that I found on the Interweb of what the plant looks like when it is all grown up:. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

eat.love.knit: Distractions

http://eatloveknit.blogspot.com/2010/04/distractions.html

Tuesday, April 13, 2010. Well, I haven't been very productive with knitting this last week. Here are a few reasons:. We are fostering a mama dog and her puppies. The puppies were born Saturday, March 27, so as I'm writing, they are just over two weeks old. We had a sad day on Sunday when the runt died from respiratory problems. There was much effort to save her (by the wonderful woman who owns/runs Zeus' Place. More pics to come soon! Also, there will be knitting once again. April 13, 2010 at 2:59 PM.

eat.love.knit: Knitting Lessons!

http://eatloveknit.blogspot.com/2010/04/knitting-lessons.html

Saturday, April 3, 2010. Wednesday night brought wine, yummy food, and knitting lessons! I went over to the house of a couple of friends who are also knitters, and a few others received some knitting lessons! Rachel, the person who originally inspired me to knit hats, taught a few of her friends to knit. She did a great job teaching, and two of the four caught the knitting bug, and even bought their own needles and yarn the next day! The guy who doesn't plan on continuing to knit made this:.

eat.love.knit: Old Hat

http://eatloveknit.blogspot.com/2010/03/jk.html

Sunday, March 28, 2010. Here's one of the hats I made in late December that got me excited about knitting again. It's the Brother-in-Law Basket-Weave Hat. Which is appropriate for Jeff, who is like a brother to the man I'm going to marry. Jeff picked out the cashmere blend brown yarn, and Nick picked out the sock yarn I doubled it with. Both yarns were purchased at Fengari. A beautiful yarn shop in Half Moon Bay, California. Happy Birthday, Jeff! You are now immortalized in my blog. Lucky you.

Sunday, August 1, 2010. The project I started in April, before all this, was my first lace pattern. I was inspired by Meg, who picked up knitting in February, and immediately churned out several complex, beautiful accessories. I had been knitting for six years, and had gotten as far as cabling. Meg started. With lace patterns. She made a Noble Cowl. That blew my mind. I was impressed, and felt jealous just looking at it. She said, "you can do that too! You just follow a pattern! I promise, more color in ...

eat.love.knit: A Few Updates

http://eatloveknit.blogspot.com/2010/04/few-updates.html

Monday, April 26, 2010. Pup update: We gave Mama and the pups up last weekend. Another Zeus' Place employee took them in, which is probably better for the mama anyway, since her house is quieter. Mama was getting to be a bit much with all her whining (read: screaming! And bullying our Ruby. Also, Ruby took it upon herself to become second mom to the pups (I can see it now: a children's book- Puppies Have Two Mommies. I also knitted up yet another set of baby booties and a hat for a friend whose boyfriend...

Nola Bamboo

Saturday, July 7, 2012. Some have approached me with the question of "Isn't there a shortage of cork and why are you selling it? Well, lets address this question. Therefore it is a good idea to use cork floors, because it is the cork that is left over from the wine makers. Once they get their corks from the bark, then we get it to make floors and such. We have also gone to the point of recycling the wine corks, slicing them and using them as cork mosaic tile floors. Tuesday, May 29, 2012.
