Nomad met her when she was just 12 years old and the twins parents sponsored her and put her through secondary school. It was her second day after graduation when she collapsed walking back home to Kibwezi. Janette and volunteer Sharon Mc’Neil were there to take care of her. She had full blown AIDS. Nomad staff and volunteers as recently as October of 2014 visited numerous secondary schools and, even though a hand full of schools did have computer labs, they had no electricity to run the computers. Nomad Charities was donated 5 laptop computers from the Bend. La Pine School District in central Oregon. A grant from the Olive Bridge Fund. And receive a generous tax write-off! With the Ministry of Fisheries Development field office in Kibwezi assisting us, Nomad Charities has started the construction of 5 fish ponds both on our land and land close by. Now, this may not be exciting news to most of you BUT, since Nomad has owned our 5 acres of land (2006) this is our first crop of maize grown on our land and we are psyched! It will be enough to feed our kids living at Gail’s House for the entire year!
