http://www.thelillypatch.com/2010/10/race-to-finish-line.html
About The Lilly Patch. Wednesday, October 20, 2010. Race to the Finish Line. I was reading another craftie's blog the other day, and she mentioned the absurd number of unfinished quilt tops and sewing projects she has stacked up (think in the hundreds! Am I alone in this? I've read about other people with a few UFO's laying around (unfinished objects - I had to look that one up. October 20, 2010 at 11:32 AM. It did take me a year and a half to get around to finishing Everetts quilt. But I really thin...

The Lilly Patch: Singer Senility.
http://www.thelillypatch.com/2010/10/singer-senility.html
About The Lilly Patch. Saturday, October 9, 2010. I think I have sewing dementia. This afternoon, I snuck downstairs while Mason was asleep to try and work on my vintage sheet quilt, and I couldn't remember how to turn my sewing machine on. I actually picked the foot pedal up off the floor, thinking the secret on/off toggle was hidden somewhere along the cord. This is what happens when Dave goes on. Oh, well. This is the life that I've made for myself, disheartening as it may be sometimes. I should have ...

The Lilly Patch: Introducing Verna . . .
http://www.thelillypatch.com/2010/10/introducing-verna.html
About The Lilly Patch. Monday, October 11, 2010. Introducing Verna . . . Ohmygodohmygodohmygod - I'm so excited I can hardly sit still long enough to type this all out! After my debacle with the Brother sewing machine over the weekend, I decided to take a breather from looking for another one and make do with my gawdawful little Singer. I can't put the feed dogs down to do any free motion quilting (the plastic lever that lifts and drops them inside the machine. Anyway, I decided to search for a Husqvarna...

Shaker Heights Restoration: Another month, another entry
http://shakerheights.blogspot.com/2010/01/another-month-another-entry.html
Fixing a house in a city where the idea of a fixer-upper is a foreign concept. Navigating laws that seem to ignore the possibility of owners doing their own repair work. Illustrating interesting homes for sale in the city. We'd planned on buying a major fixer-upper, and then the house of our dreams appeared. There will still be projects, yes, but they'll be more of the "detail" type and less of the "how are we going to make dinner without a functioning kitchen" type. Thursday, January 14, 2010. Im a clev...

here and there photography: Lighting - Constant source pros and cons
http://hatphoto.blogspot.com/2008/11/hey-there-its-been-while-since-i-last.html
Here and there photography. Lighting - Constant source pros and cons. Hey there, it’s been a while since I last posted so I am sorry for the delay. In the effort to learn how to control light I thought I would start with the easiest: constant light source. An example would lamps, torches and hell you could even use your monitor (but the monitor thing is another post). I took a little trip to Ikea and bought the following items for my shoot:. RIAN - Small white table with metal legs. The lamps/bulbs are n...

here and there photography: Grey Day In The Grey City
http://hatphoto.blogspot.com/2008/12/grey-day-in-grey-city.html
Here and there photography. Grey Day In The Grey City. I went out for a Photowalk around Portsmouth, UK, on Saturday. It was overcast and raining - a perfect backdrop for the '70s style concrete buildings, Battleship Grey Warships, and the economic mood at the moment. Grabbed this one between rain showers - an old Multi-Storey Car Park, well past its prime. Did concrete ever look good? You can catch up with the rest of the set on my blog. http://hatphoto.blogspot.com/2008/11/build-your-own-beach-macro-set.html
Here and there photography. Build Your Own Beach Macro Set. The weathers bad, it's pouring down outside, you're not feeling too well anyway, so what do you do? Build your own indoor beach set! I was still feeling the effects of a bout of 'flu yesterday, but after watching Andreas Feiningers Video on Youtube. I fancied having a go at a similar macro type shot. Next time I'll try and get more texture into the sand, try a different background, and play around with light more. Here's my first go:. The Return...

here and there photography: The Return of HDR (To My Work-Flow At Least...)
http://hatphoto.blogspot.com/2008/11/return-of-hdr-to-my-work-flow-at-least.html
Here and there photography. The Return of HDR (To My Work-Flow At Least.). I have to admit I've been avoiding HDR recently due to two reasons. Firstly my main computer died a few months ago, and my back-up PC is very slow, so it's a pain to process and work on the images. Secondly I was getting tired of the "HDR Look", you know, over-processed false looking images. This entry was posted on 03:15 and is filed under hdr.
