The North resorted to conscription, because they were running out of soldiers to fight, and the military had suffered great losses. So, what they did, was make every man, between the ages 20 through 45, a soldier. They were forced to join the military to fight. Do you think the government should have the power of conscription? At what point can the state impose on your liberty in order to defend the nation?
