when we were young and happy: Chinese New Year Staycation: Round 2
http://www.whenwewereyoungandhappy.com/2015/03/chinese-new-year-staycation-round-2.html
When we were young and happy. Sunday, March 1, 2015. Chinese New Year Staycation: Round 2. As the avid reader/listener to a year of whining will recall, we swore last year that we would not stay in Shanghai this year. I was actually quite subdued about it on my Chinese New Year blog post. But overall we were bored and sick of listening to fireworks/firecrackers. Despite the lessons of last year, I discovered I had more to learn. Failing at Firework Viewing. Just not for fireworks. Yes, after hours of res...

When we were young and happy. Internationally figuring things out. Sunday, June 16, 2013. How to not be a jerk in London: 10 ways. There are a lot of things that newbies, tourists, and clueless foreigners do that Londoners or people who generally live here find irritating. There are two reasons for this: 1) cluelessness and 2) stubborn resolve to not conform to London/English etiquette. I can't help the people determined to be jerks. (I'm looking at you. Be a conscientious umbrella user. Also, if you're ...

When we were young and happy. Saturday, August 1, 2015. Weight Preoccupation in China: On-Going Culture Shock. The issue of weight has been driving me a bit crazy lately. While everywhere I have lived has had a cultural preoccupation with weight, especially for teenage girls and women, it has been particularly painful to witness here. I know it is nothing compared to, say, Korea, but my patience is wearing thin as I am exposed daily to the pressure to be thin for Chinese women. That colleague "successful...

Richelle in Sri Lanka: October 2010
http://richelleinsrilanka.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
Richelle in Sri Lanka. Sunday, October 17, 2010. This Is How we Do It. It’s strange the first time you do it. It goes against pretty much everything we’ve been taught. Eating with your hands is by definition playing with your food and some part of you expects the scolding eyes of a parent to set upon you at any time but they never come. And besides experiencing food in a new way, we all know that when you wash dishes after any meal the worst part is having to wash the cutlery…so why not take them o...

When we were young and happy. Internationally figuring things out. Wednesday, December 29, 2010. PEPY Bike Tour - 23 Dec 2010 to 25 Dec 2010. Day 4 – Chanleas Dai to Samraong. After a 5:30 am breakfast, we headed out on a long, bumpy ride to Samraong. It was an uneventful day beyond Ania and I figuring out the words for “thousand” and “hundred” on our own while running errands in the market ( pon. Day 5 – Samraong to Banteay Chhmar. CBT) nearly made me forget about the pulsing pain going through my legs.

Cruz Catches Up Archive 2008: "It's like camping!" - Mom's visit from Ange's perspective
http://angelafcruz2008.blogspot.com/2008/08/like-camping-mom-visit-from-ange.html
Cruz Catches Up Archive 2008. Sunday, August 24, 2008. Moms visit from Anges perspective. Wow, so Mom’s really gone! My house is so quiet! After she left, I talked to Jeffrey for nearly an hour, called Erin and talked her ear off for a while after work and then blabbed away to Jeffrey again for a while. So I’m easing myself back into the routine of not really talking much. Insanely skinny, tired and starving for attention from me, she’s back! Day 2: Mom comes in a whole 24 hours late! I spent the day in ...

Cruz Catches Up Archive 2008: November 2008

Cruz Catches Up Archive 2008. Friday, November 14, 2008. 21 years on this earth and counting. I was surprised by a super phone call via Skype from Tiana! It's so cool to talk to someone live who is in Burkina Faso. The quality wasn't great, but it was cool to hear her little sick voice nonetheless. (Everyone spare some of your "healthy thoughts" for T so she can be nice and healthy to hang out with some other Canadians this weekend! Best invention ever. Earplugs have gotten me through living in resid...

Cruz Catches Up Archive 2008. Friday, March 28, 2008. Mom brought up the good point a while ago that it was going to be hard for me to find leather-free hiking boots. (I don't eat meat except free range organic chicken and I think it would be totally hypocritical of me to wear fur, leather, suede, etc! Http:/ www.garmontusa.com/881252601.html. Cruz Catches Up Archive 2008: mini-update from a sickface
http://angelafcruz2008.blogspot.com/2008/09/mini-update-from-sickface.html
Cruz Catches Up Archive 2008. Wednesday, September 3, 2008. Mini-update from a sickface. Well, this stuff didn't work at all. So Tuesday, back to Santa Elena I went, to a different Dr (after a whole day of figuring out going to Guatemala City with the university, CUSO and insurance, someone mentioned this good doctor! ARGH It was frustrating) who said it could very well be dengue without a fever. Just to be safe, I'm being treated for malaria which sucks hardcore. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
