Canning Tomatoes | No Pressure Canning

Laquo; Corn Salsa. Here is a picture of the tomatoes we canned over the weekend. At first, I was a little obsessed that the tomatoes were all floating in the top two-thirds of the jar, even though I hot packed them. Anyway, they seem to have more or less spread out in the jar now. Hope they are not just breaking down. I think they are really pretty in their Ball quart jar. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Laquo; Visit to Traverse City. Chunky Tomato Basil Sauce. He really liked the labels too, but I am not putting labels on the glass anymore. They are too hard to remove. Strictly sticking small ones on the lids. You can see in this photo without the label, all of the different ingredients. It was very tasty, but a little too mild. Have to get the jalapeno ratio better nailed down. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Fill in your details below or click an icon to log in:.
About | No Pressure Canning

We have been canning for a little more than a year now. During 2009, we made strawberry jam, raspberry jam, blueberry jam, applesauce and pear butter. Pretty simple stuff, but it was quickly apparent that we preferred the homemade over store bought, and so a blog was born…. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Laquo; Peach Salsa. Chunky Tomato Basil Sauce. This is my first tomato sauce. We really like it. I have canned it on two separate occasions. Some of the canning experts warn against making and canning your old family spaghetti sauce recipes. This one has red wine vinegar and red wine, so I am hoping that there is enough acid. It is very flavorful. We have used it with both rotini pasta and on homemade pizza, without complaints. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Chunky Tomato Basil Sauce.

A smack upside the head | Prism Balance: My Pile of Good Things

Prism Balance: My Pile of Good Things. Finding my balance, telling my story, searching for color in a world of neutrals. February 24, 2014. A smack upside the head. I’m feeling better, physically. I’d say 95% “normal” on a good day. Most days, now. I’m walking two 5k’s this spring, and possibly another in the fall. Two and a half miles a day three times a week on the dreadmill. A little faster each time. (Have I mentioned how weak and soft I am all over? On it’s way, right? I hadn’t realized to wha...

Prism Balance: My Pile of Good Things. Finding my balance, telling my story, searching for color in a world of neutrals. May 1, 2014. Brain Tumor Thursday (insert something witty and profound here). Actually, it’s been so long since I’ve stopped in here, I have to get re-familiarized with my own blog. How bad is that? For the people who have been following me for a while, rest assured that. I’m still here. Still alive and kickin’ (higher than usual, actually.)🙂. 8211; the past couple of months. 8230; li...

Prism Balance: My Pile of Good Things. Finding my balance, telling my story, searching for color in a world of neutrals. A piece of me…. My type of tumor is supposedly rare. I don’t know what caused it. I don’t know how to prevent it from coming back. I can only find things that are proactive to make me feel better. An important part of this self preservation is not knowing the exact name of the type I have. I don’t want to know. So please, don’t try to find out on my behalf. Please don’t expect me...

Prism Balance: My Pile of Good Things. Finding my balance, telling my story, searching for color in a world of neutrals. January 10, 2014. Just the holidays. Weather. No drama, no out of the ordinary health concerns. That causes trouble. And time that I don’t have. That’s what I have Facebook and Pinterest for. So maybe Twitter, one day. Not today. I’m really excited about the BT5k. Excited and nervous. Excited because, hey, other brain tumor survivors! I get to raise money to try to help! All my life, I...

Prism Balance: My Pile of Good Things. Finding my balance, telling my story, searching for color in a world of neutrals. November 24, 2013. Just an ever so brief update. If you’ve been paying any sort of attention to my blog here, you’ll know I had my two year appointment with my neurosurgeon earlier this week. I would have gotten here sooner, but I’ve been battling a blazing sinus infection and not doing much but blowing my nose and drinking hot tea. It didn’t grow. To look forward to.). Anyway, as much...

Prism Balance: My Pile of Good Things. Finding my balance, telling my story, searching for color in a world of neutrals. December 16, 2013. I’m not the only one with scars. Shock There is no better way for me to describe the feeling I had in the moments that followed my diagnosis. My daughter was the only one in the room with me when I initially heard the words, ‘You have a brain tumor.’. The first few months following the surgery I slept a tremendous amount. It was necessary for my body to have a ch...
